'Robert blasts teamates'

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Lazy tabloid jounos again just lifting Robert's website reports and rehashing them. This time his very mild (I thought) criticism about the lack of play down the left and our poor approach play on Tuesday is remodelled in 'a blast'. See Mirror.co.uk for article.

It would be a shame if his website is brought to a close. He is refreshingly honest, perhaps too much at times but at least he speaks his mind and often doesn't say anything we don't already know. Unfortunately due to the way the press pick up on it I can see the powers at SJP having something to say about it.

It would be nice if football reporters did their job instead of nicking stuff off the internet.

Lynda, it is an easy option. I'm afraid it is simply a sign of the times.

It was also in the Mail today:

Extract:

However, Shearer's team-mate Laurent Robert was unhappy with a draw against Villa and did not attempt to hide his disappointment.

The French winger said, "I'm convinced we would have gone home with all three points if only we had played in a more straightforward way. But instead we kept hitting long balls upfield and our play was mostly down the right channel.

"If only my team-mates had been able to direct the ball over to the left, we could have done something. I could have been one-on-one with Peter Schmeichel several times. It’s very frustrating.

"I often found myself completely unmarked in plenty of space but unfortunately the ball never came over. I find that a real shame.

Laurent even appeared to take some of the gloss off his captain’s goal, adding, "I was the architect of Shearer’s goal. I tried a shot from 20 yards out, it hit the post and rebounded at Alan’s feet. All he needed to do was put it in the net."

Does wor Laurent not like Mr Shearer?
