The Fall Of the House of Usher : LUSENET : The Work of Edgar Allan Poe : One Thread

I have a rough idea, it concerns the Central Idea. General ball park of this concept would be helpful. Thanx.

The ambiguity of the title itself is the central idea, explained philosophically and then poetically("The Haunted Palace"). The fate, state of soul and health of Usher are all connected AS IS the house(building), the family(Usher), Usher himself and his mind. The Haunted Palace has simiarities to a skull suggesting the sickness of location, history and mind bound together spiritually and physically and conjoined in gradual, then climactic, decay and ruin.

Fo Fall can be the season of Usher's death, the collapse of the mansion and Usher's sanity, and the destruction of his family line.
