Stuart,

The new M motor is not really quiet and at 300 grams it does add noticeable weight. But that said, the motor isn't really loud and it is so well balanced that the weight doesn't bother you so much. A bit spooked by motor horror stories, I bought mine with fear and trembling. After 5 months it is still being good to me.

I'm basically an Abrahamsson Rapidwinder fan. But I have to admit I do like the motor.

Noise-wise, don't use it in a theatre, but use it in a typical city street. The noise is not that obtrusive. I think it is quieter than a Hexar RF and a Contax G2.

Suggestions on using this thing can be found in previous threads and FAQ. My main suggestion is to buy the new motor and don't mess with the older motors. Also use it on a new M6 or on an older M6 or M4P or M4-2 that has been serviced. It needs perfect sync to work properly. The Rapidwinder is more forgiving. Good luck, let us know your experiences.

Cheers,

Alex
