Did yez notice I never posted on the "Queen mum is dead thread" No? neither did I.

Must win game tonight, much prefer to look at chelsea from 5 points than 2. Isn't it about time those teams above us went through a bad patch??

Who's bar tending the neet??

howay the lads

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Im here for the time being before finishing up at work and heading out for a pint. Is the game on telly anywhere?

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

not that I am aware

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

I will have to settle for the radio then. I suppose all I'll get is updates in between Champions league stuff.

Howay the Lads!!!!!

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

I might be on here from time to time.

For now, the drinks are on me!

Sadly, it's only tap water, but it's still on me

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

I'm here.

A couple of questions, what time is kick-off and is the game on TV?

We have Manure, etc. CL stuff here, but aren't the Toon always on TV these days?

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

I am going to rely on the metro radio webcast.

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Looks like we're not on the telly :-(

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Apparently the game is being broadcast live on two digital radio stations!

What contraption to you need to buy to receive these digital stations - other than a 'digital radio', of course. What the hell is an 'analogue radio' anyway?

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

http://www.avfc.co.uk/match/view/match_live/0,,10265,00.html

if you want to hear some funny Brummy accents. They're talking about Toon fans at the moment.

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Clarky - you can get a lot of digital radio stations on Sky these days. I listen to one of the rock mucic ones (Planet Rock) on my Sky receiver. Its up in the 8xx range I think along with the rest of the digital radio stuff.

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

I'll be here. Lots of drinks for me please. My house looks like Steptoes as I'm having some building work done. Consequently I'm stressed as hell. (Can't stand mess and disorder!) So I'll listen to the game to take my mind off it. Far less stressful (!)

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Hope we get a nice unstressful win to calm your nerves Lynda, something like 4-0 in the first half hour should do fine. Is Craig Bellamy going to be on the bench after all.

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Don't think Bellamy was in the squad. Could be wrong though.

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

is metro broadcasting the game, so far nowt.

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

I'm here and relying on those of you with radio/webcasts. Danged midweek matches mean I'm trapped behind a firewall so can't listen :-(

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Dan, is there a female reporter on the AVFC webcast? She's got one of the worst accents I've ever heard. almost like nails on a chalkboard.

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Yep, bit of a Brummie wannabe Helen Chamberlain. ie, wannabe bloke.

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

yes, sounds like her shoes are too tight

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Is the webcast broken? i'm just getting music, Country and Western, is this what they play before the match in Villa Park? 'just a good ol' boy', and now adverts.

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

It's the Newcastle Employment Action advert, though I didn't know we were short of cowpokes in the North east

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

When's kick off?

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Now some weedy voice warbling an old song from the 50's 60's "I need your love god speed your love to meeeeeee"

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

HOWAY!!!

I've just cracked open a bottle of wine if anyone fancies a slurp. A rather nice Cotes du Rhone.. my first French wine for donkeys...

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Don't think I can handle a Metro commentary. I've had a long day.

I'm relying on you lot. Dunno which is worse...:)

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

I'll have whatever is being served. I can see getting a decent text update will be fun. sports.com keeps crashing my browser window and bbc.co.uk tends to forget to update for what seems like ages...especially during the last 15min of a match.

Relying on youse guys. Howay the lads!!!

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Metro's coming thru loud and clear herein the Land of the Frozen Chosen. It bliddy snowed overnight :-(

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Pass me a straw Geordie - I could really do with a drink! (:o)

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Crouch & Angel up front. Where's the in-form Vassell then?

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

1-0 Shearer

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Shearer. 1.0

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Robert rebound off post to Shearer and in 1-0 after 2 minutes

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

1 - 0 Shearer!

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Robert shot against the post and Al knocks in the rebound

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

YES!!!!

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Morning Chaps NZ calling.

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

That'll do nicely. 3 more before HT??

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

199 Premier goals for Big Al, or he says 200 if the Man U deflection had stood

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

At last - We've scored first! Oh - Hello everyone by the way! :o))

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

C'mon Al make it 200!

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Hughes clears up a chance for Villa...

another shot... Given tips behind for corner

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Robert and Solano doing lots of running.

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Sounds like Villa are going for it... Steady on lads... Solano breaks up an attack

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

It would be 202 if you add in those against Ipswich as well

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Double YESSS!!! Just foundout the Villa webcast is getting through the firewall here. If only I had headphones. Ah well, I'll just be sitting reallyclosetomymonitor/speakers for the next 90min or so. :-D

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Hope Villa do keep going for it - we cant play against a packed defence.

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Dyer goes close

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Another Dyer run - right foot shot, Nobby and Jena involved

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Ciara it's funny in my office I can't get Real Player through the firewall but I can get Windows Media Player. I don't know why. You would think if they would block one stream they would block the other but they don't.

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

These young guns are totally committed!

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Crouch gets a header in (from 14'10") ... wide of Given's goal

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Sounds like Dyer is on fire

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

If what I'm hearing is right, and Villa are going forward, another goal for us could lead onto a big win.

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

I'm wondering if it's because Villa have their player embedded in the webpage. The firewall here only seems to block streams that open a separate player. Funny thing is I can't stand the embedded player at home 'cause it bogs down my system. I won't complain quite as much anymore ;-)

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

hey, stevie, chin up mate 1-0! what else could really matter?

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

HOWAY!!!

Need to get a grip... sounds loke Villa are on top to me.... corner to Villa

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Yep - Villa are coming at us.

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

if we get 2 i don't see that villa have a cat in helss, they just can't score these days... ah sh%t thats blown that then!

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Prefer Villa to attack - they will leave holes behind. Another corner, Crouch header again.

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Robert tracks back and concedes a corner.... Crouch header.... goal kick

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

I hear Crouch is tall as a flagpole. Good thing we have.. erm.. Distin?

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Oh don't worry, we're quite capable of making Villa look competitive by allowing 2 goals. ;-)

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

...now if we score 6, then I'd say they have little chance. Possibly. :-)

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

vassell on the bench...can't imagine he'll be too pleased at that!

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

All is well in the world when we're winnin'. I'm exhausted enough just reading the comments here. I think listening to the Metro pillocks would be too much for me. Plus Bayern vs. Madrid is on the telly.

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

and beckham has just scored against depor

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

one more goal and shearer has 200 prem goals. thats just complete class.

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Villa's commentator's aren't too bad. Better than Metro's. Though they did confuse me by saying Robert was 'at fault' for the first goal. :-)

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Stupid Depor.

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Another Villa corner - Crouch again (6'7") jeez

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

-Shay -Aaron -Andrew -Nikos -Sylvain -Nolberto -Kieron -Jermaine -Laurent -Alan -Carl

sounds like the cast of the chippendales...

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

another Villa corner... in-swinger, Crouch again but into Given's hands... Come on lads... a quick break needed

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

..but much better looking! ;-)

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

everyones winning 1-0 away from home early on Madrid have scored through GEREMI

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

OK, need to get ready for work - give us a quick pint (Theakstons please) and make sure they dont score whilst I am gone.

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Bollocks 1 - 1 Jolly Green Giant!

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Bollox.

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Stupid Crouch.

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Crouch! Shite.

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

off to play footy myself in a minute, i think i'll be Robert tonight!

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

1-1 Crouch

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

sh$t

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Wayne, you get right back in here, young man! If you hadn't moved away from your computer to do something as trivial as get ready for work, we'd still be in the lead. Probably.

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Knew he would score, b'std

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

B@st@rd shudda signed for the Mackems :-(

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Thought it would be too rainy for your gang of hard men, Swift?

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Sounds like Gareth Barry has picked tonight to remember how to be a good footballer. :-(

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Angel was scoring lots of goals at the start of the season, but he's gone quiet recently. And it sounds like he missed badly just now. Keep it up Angel

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

a dead ringer for Ian Ormondroyd

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Angel misses open goal.. thank f@@K. Still sounds like we are being overrun. Anyone else get that impression?

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

nah, i'll be out there getting kicked again in the pissing rain, what fun!

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Oh thank you, Shay!!! Now the rest of you lot......SORT IT OUT!!!!!

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

yet another Villa corner

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

is the midfield too weak, or is the defence just not clearing as damn usual?

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Did Angel miss? Villa announcers said Shay saved it.

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

If the commentary is right it sounds like we're slicing through them with ease, especially Robert and Dyer, when we have the ball. Not much mention of Jenas though. But unfortunately Villa seem to have the upper hand right now.

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

We can but hope for another Bobby Half-time Bollocking (C) to turn things around.

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

clear the damn ball!

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Kevin has a great run but Lolo stayed at home :-(

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

But it's crowded in the penalty box and people push and shove and we might get hurrrrrt *whiiiiiiiiiiiiine*

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

u ok pal?

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

the defence has gone so crap recently. is this because Dabz feels his days are numbered and isn't focussed?

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Is everyone's e-mail filling up with "can't deliver to Syme's e-mail" messages? How can I stop it doing that ?

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Me Swift? Aye, champion. A bit under the weather, no pun intended. I need some sunshine and vitamin pills...:)

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

I wonder what would happen if Bobby gave them his halftime bollocking at...oh, I dunno....the prematch talk? According to Lolo, they seem capable of talking to each other at HT. ;-)

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

what did I do??

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

you'll get f all sun around here! this is supposed to be Spain!

a pint should sort it!

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

BUGGER.

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Syme my e-mail says it can't deliver to your jizzz@madmail.com - is it a false address?

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Cort offside :(

Start a new thread if you don't want bounced mails from Syme's dodgy address...

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

i'm off now, 2-2 i reckon, dyer.

take care everyone.

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

aarrghhhhhhh! come one lads.. This is frustrating!

I WENT TO BLAYDON RACES TWAS ON THE NINTH OF JUNE...

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

You've got a dodgy or non-funcional email addy. You also forgot to uncheck the 'send email updates' box when you started the thread.

There are worse crimes, but you may be deducted points if it happens again...

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Sounds like a great run from Dyer just before.

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

That's why I use a hotmail addy. just go in once a week (or when I remember) to delete bounced messages). ;-)

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Next time you post Syme you can switch off the notifications

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Ok...we need to take control of this match! Villa are getting too many chances. Howay lads!!!!!!!

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

how much time left in the half?

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Shay Given's won us lots of points this season, and he's just saved another one.

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Dyer and Robert sound as if they are working well together.

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Ugh - I haven't heard any commentary. reading this thread is bad enough. I KNEW we wouldn't hold onto a lead. FFS Newcastle - get a grip!!!!!!!!!!!

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

must be over by now... 30secs to go in the half according to Metro

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

ANOTHER super stop by Given ... corner

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

COME ON LADS!!! LET`S GO IN AHEAD AT HALF TIME!!!

Is that wine warm yet Geordie? I`m parched! (;o)

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Arrgh. Great run from Hughsie with cr@p delivery :-(

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Hughes just went on a run down the other end, but lost the ball. Darnit!

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Just started to listen - great run by Hughes, oh why didn't they score!

From the little I heard, Villa are giving us problems. I'm depressed.

BTW is Bellamy on the bench?

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

FFS everyone - I asked you lot to keep them out whilst I had my shower - now own up, who wasnt concentrating? ...... I'm waiting.....

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Well...I'm back...

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

How do I switch off my notifications??? It's not a false address just one that has been created for this purpose, I don't even check it.

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Well it wasn't a 4-0 first half so why not a 4-0 second half a la Everton? Great run from Aaron Hughes, even DYer couldn't keep up! Have Villa got a lot of old men at the back who get out of breath in the last 20 minutes?

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Think it's too late now, syme - next time you start a thread you'll see the option b4 you post.

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

OK... it's time for a famous Toon 2nd half performance... we've got away with murder in that half... let's murder them 2nd half.

Howay Bobby, you've 15 mins to sort it out

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Man U 0-2 up - dunno if anyone mentioned..

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Why don't we start a Second Half Match Thread?

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Syme - I thin kthere's a button you press next time you post an reply. Stupid boy!!

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Soooooooooooooo close to Champs League football now. I can't bear it if we don't make it. Howay NUFC - don't do what you usually do and flounder on the final furlong.

I'm too nervous to listen - off to have a bath. Back later.

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

April Fool??

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Just visited the site and it turns out the server crashed so they've reformatted it. Do I need to use another address now or what??

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

when you post you get a notification message which, if you read it [;- ))] tells you to click on a link to disable notifications

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Well I`m sat at my usual place in front of the computer now - large glass of red wine in my hand. Let`s hope we come out in the second half and thrash `em.

BTW - my husband read the thread about `the bloke behind me` and laughed his socks off! It really tickled him. I suspect Pete lurks when I`m not looking! (;o)

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

actually that might be bollox.... maybe the link is in one of the notifications you receive

2nd half match thread anyone?

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

But I haven't done anything different to what I usually do when I post............sorry to everyone except fatty from minnesota...........screach only jokin mate, you know I love you like a brother.

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

I thought the email notification thingy when you start threads is only to allow(or not) responses to yourself. I thought you had to click something somewhere else if you didn't start a thread, but still want email notificiation. Or something like that. I'll shut up and go back to eating my apple now.

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Syme, when you start a new thread, under the 'category' box is an option to 'notify me of responses' - just click on 'no'.

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

C'mon Lads three points tonight -- PLEASE!

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

where's everyone gone? I've started a 2nd half thread, anyhoo...

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

OK.. dan has started a 2nd half thread.... see you all there.. bye

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Dan's started up a 2nd half thread. Thanks

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

Right: Howay me Bonnie Lads.

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2002

oi vey! all this over a bit of email? Right...I'm on my way....
