The sun was shining, the temp was getting into the high 40's and 50's pretty regular, I took the lining out of my jacket..... and then we got a blizzard. It snowed all day yesterday and it's still here. I'd say a good 2-3 inches. There goes my plan of getting my peas and potatoes in the ground this week. I know, I shouldn't complain. We had such a mild winter and we need the moisture, blah, blah, blah. I want to start my garden!!!! Any other frustrated gardeners out there? Misery loves company!! :)

Yes indeed, the weather is frustrating.

Yesterday, here in Kansas we hit 86 degrees. This allowed my neighbor's apricot tree to start to bloom. Today the temperatures are to be ONLY in the lower 40s, with wind gust to 45 mph this morning. Argh!

It is shaping up that we will go directly from winter to summer and skip much of spring altogether. So goes life.

Ah yes Michigan, its raining here today!! But April showers bring May flowers....And our area seems dryer then a normal spring, so I think the rain is needed...but warmer would be nicer!!! But lettuce & radishes are growing under some old windows, that's a start!! Haven't put peas in yet!!

Texas is having mild temps. The trees and shrubs are all in bloom but we won't know until the middle of April if we'll have another late season blizzard. Three years ago, we had a snow storm that dumped 12 inches and left drifts 3 foot deep. We've already had 3 days over 80 degrees.

Karen, May flowers bring sneezing and wheezing!! But the flowers are so very pretty! Zinnias are my favorite!

I live in Montana ... I just finished shovelling the walk and it's supposed to be near 0 tonight. *sigh* Seeing how much others in other parts of the country can do now is both frustrating and heartening! Rule of thumb here is that you can plant potatoes when you see dandelions blooming in open places -- not very soon this year!

Well, Najia...some of us ARE in Alaska. Our morning lows have consistently been in the minus 15 to minus 25 (*F) range; the only period of above-freezing temps we've had since October was a 4-hour stretch on March 22. Got up to +38*F. And we had a grand total of 0.12" precip for the month of March, all back on March 2. So not the best prelims for spring planting. On the other hand, ever since the equinox, we've got more hours of sunlight than you (unless you're even farther north than 63*02'), and we're gaining over 7 minutes each day, or almost 1 hour each week. And my laying hens just gave me 25 eggs today - a new record. Also, I got my heater (a Toyostove) for the greenhouse repaired and returned this evening, so I could plant $ome $eedling$... and wait...
