Dyer on the Left.

Why is there all this talk OF Dyer solving the left midfield position for England.

He plays CM and always has done for the Toon. So why does every1 assume he'd be great at LM.

I would understand if say Distin got called up as left back for France even though he's a Central defender because he has been playing there lately and doing OK.

But why Dyer on the left? Why Not Scholes/ Gerrad? Is it not just the same for these people on "the premiership and "football focus" to say I think Scholes could solve the Left Midfield problem than it is to say Dyer can?

Am I missing something. Did Dyer used to play on the left? Does he prefer it or something? I just can't understand why all of these pundits are tippinghim to take the role of left midfield when he's a center midfielder as if he is the Obvious choice.

Why is Dyer on the left so more Obvious than saying Scholes on the left?

Is he left footed? If so then there was no point in this post and I apologise.

Ya, I have been wondering that to. Maybe its because he can play on the right and therefor maybe he could do the trick on the left.

.....possibly because there's no one else! Everyone and their bro has been tried wide left, and failed. Now it's KD's turn.

Dyer has played left midfield for us before, I think he did against Sheffield Wed when we beat them 8-0.

It basically because he's too good to leave out of the team, but Scholes and Gerrard are the best for centre midfield.

Scholes and Gerrard have demonstrated their ability as central midfielders on the international stage: Dyer hasn't.

Dyer will be in the squad with left midfield in mind but I see a stupid sending off for Scholes and Dyer is bought back in the centre, this turns the fortunes of England around & we get to the qtr finals, only to be knocked out in that round by a dodgy handball - just like Peter Beardsley.

I have a fancy that SGE was toying with playing Ashley Cole on the left of m/f - actually his true position imo - and Bridge at LB. This would have meant KD coming off the bench to destroy the opposition in the 2nd half of games. However, I notice Cole suffered a recurrence of his knee ligament injury yesterday, so we may yet see KD on the left foe England.
