Producivity and Marketing Questiongreenspun.com : LUSENET : Raising meat rabbits for profit : One Thread |
Well I have good leads, but I am a bit nervous that I won't be able to produce enough. I only have five does....Have you folks who have successfully merketed found people to be flexible on the amounts they will require or is it really a massive struggle?I suppose the second question here would be if we want to network a bit to fill orders? Who is open to that idea? My presumption is that all shipments would have to be next day air, running at least $16 per shipment. That is pricey to say the least. I have access to both FedEx and UPS, but the PO here is one of those that will not guarantee overnight to anywhere.
Any thoughts on this are welcome! I haven't gotten them well formatted in my mind as of yet.

Nevermind. I have a deal sewed up for between 30 and 50 per week at $5. over 50 would go to $3. And the best part is they will take whatever I can get them right now and not be upset about it!!! And they want them live, which is even better for me:). Thanks for the inspiration, Tracy!

Your welcome. You dont need to ship next day air, 2 day is fine. Look at the posts below about free shipping boxes. You need to enclose freeze packs also but I have found a source to make your own for 5 cents each. If you need the link let me know.

How many pounds go into a shipment? Also, would you share how you found your market so quickly? I am not asking for the name of your buyer; just the method you used to find him.

Depends on how many lbs are ordered. I charge by the pound. Shipping rates vary as to # of lbs and the zipcode. I calculate both with priorty mail and ups ground rates, if they are in the zone for 2 day ground shipments. As far as finding people. The wonderful world on the web. 99% of my business is via internet.
