They would have been but it has been down for hours so no-one could get on.

Anyhow I watched it this morning - with the fatalistic dread that inflicts us all and lo and behold a team transformed - not perfect but a different team to the last few matches. Robert was in and out - when in he supplied the goods, Jenas and Dyer are the biz in midfield, Nobby came good after being absent for the start, same old Shearer, Cort got a goal and although he and Al will never be a scary partnership showed a few nice touches, aprt from going to sleep for the second the defence generally held up well against the Fergie power and the pace of whats-is-name (still work to do there though) Shay played as a sweeper a few times. LLL scared the sh**e of them when he came on, and I have to ask why we didnt play Bernard as an out and out attacker to replace Bellamy? natural left-sided player with pace and is cool in front of goal - how many has he scored now from the subs bench?

All in all a match i will sit and watch again a few times. Looking forward to Robert, Dyer, Jenas, Nobby with Al and Bellers in front - scary. Just need to tighten the defence up. Having said that the only real way to do that is to stick an anchor man in front and then you have to lose one of the 6 up ahead. Smacks of Keegan era - we'll leak them but we should also score 'em. Al has said as much already - now I am looking forward to the last few matches.

Next question - Leeds or Man U for the points? My choice would be Man U to assist with the CL spot, however if we keep winning then stuff it - lets go for glory - we dont have to play anyone above us and they can rob each other of points. If we dont sneak it then lets at least scare the pants of 'em by going for it.

Truly fantastic game! And as wor Bobby said so enthusiastically after the match - it was just what the doctor ordered! (or words to that effect). (:o)

This team is on the verge of being awesome. Everton were torn apart with some breathtaking football.

At half time I was very confident we were going to win. The first half had seen quality crosses into the box from left and right, it seemed as if we would go on scoring, whereas Everton had got their two, both from defensive mishaps, one from the normally brilliant Shay, and it seemed to me that Everton couldn't ride their luck much longer.

But I wasn't prepared for the absolutely outstanding exhibition that was laid on in the second half. For those of you who thought this is a one man team, Bellamy wasn't playing - just think of the extra options when he is fit as well. Let's remember also that Dyer is only just back and playing his way to full match sharpness, and that Jenas has been in and out of the team because he was cup-tied and is still building an understanding with his new team mates, and you start to get an idea of just how powerful an attacking force YBR has built. And there are players of the quality of Lua*2 and Bernard to come on when needed, an assist and a goal from them yesterday. Nice to see Lua*2, the man who can't pass, get the assist. He plays the game for fun. He knew he had the beating of Steve Watson and went past him with ease, running half the length of the pitch before laying the goal on for Bernard.

This is a great team, a very young team, (youngest in the Premiership apparently), plays in true "Entertainers" mode and can only get better. The future is very exciting.

just as we don't play Arsenal (yeah I know) and Liverpool every week we don't play Everton every week, just shows the huge gap between top 6 and the rest

Yeah and the BBS was down, so you didn't get aload of drivel posted by yours truly, also we certainly blew away our "TV jinx" :-)

The BBS was down for at least a day - which is why a canny new bbs was set up via ezboard. A number of people were directed there - the Everton match thread had 126 posts.

And what's the url for that, benton?

Oops! Just found it on another thread. (:o)

It's http://pub84.ezboard.com/fnewcastleunitedbbsfrm2

On first impressions it was faster and better than this one, but it's essential you download the program from www.panicware.com to get rid of pop up windows (or else you get another couple every time you refresh, and end up with about 50 of them). The downside is that it only lets you post once per minute - which is a bit of a bugger in the match thread - though in truth that's not very different to this one when it's being slow and awkward.

I'd happily settle for a draw between Leeds 'n Manure and, to really put the cats among the pigeons, a win for the Mackems!

Posted below earlier on the Dyer Think Sven Was Impressed? thread:

The latest "alternative" bbs was set up by jonno, from - I believe - an original idea by ciara. It's at: http://pub84.ezboard.com/bnewcastleunitedbbs

You need to register with ezboard if you want to post. The logon for the actutal nufc bbs itself is the same as the one we use to get in here. General impressions from people yesterday were:

1) It worked. But long-term reliability not tested.

2) Annoying pop-up ads - but you can download a program to zap 'em.

3) Took some getting used to but, once in and posting, it was fine.

4) If Greenspun continues to die at regular intervals, we need to have a debate about what to do. I still, personally, prefer this board but it's no bliddy use if it's not available.

And, for those who haven't also got it in their faves, the reason we knew to migrate to ezboard was via that trusty old lifeboat (except it sinks when set limit of posts reached) at: http://www14.brinkster.com/dailytoon/bbs2.asp

...away from the trials of the bbs...woke up this morning, the sun was STILL shining and then remembered the score. It's amazing what a win can do. My feelings are the exact opposite of Michael Walker's in The Guardian. And I'm the one who's still smiling.
