Ananova:

A football-supporting vicar has rewritten a selection of hymns as a tribute to Newcastle United.

The Reverend Glyn Evans has adapted the words to sing the praises of Bobby Robson and Alan Shearer.

His new hymns include Onward Bobby's Soldiers and All Things Black and Beautiful.

Mr Evans is chaplain of St Andrew's Church in Newcastle.

His tongue-in-cheek hymns have earned him the Barclaycard Fan of the Month award.

The Evening Chronicle reports the 42-year-old has been supporting Newcastle United for 15 years.

His new hymns also include Score Shearer, Score to the tune of Shine Jesus, Shine and To Bob-be the Glory to the tune of To God Be the Glory.

Mr Evans, who wears a black and white dog collar, said: "So many people are passionate about Newcastle United it makes sense to combine the love of the club with the love of God."

"If it means more people come together on a Sunday for worship, then it's a good thing. Singing about something you're passionate about gives you a great sense of well-being."

He will be presented with his award on April 9, before the match between Newcastle United and Fulham.

Is that what someone meant by a vicar-ious attitude? Seem to remember a similar story to this one last year?
