as far as i know, and this was like 3 years ago, earth was no more. sub pop dropped him finally.he was battling the drugs(speed),and was ripping off people w/ mark lanegan in the u-dist. (in seattle) i used to see and talk to dylan a lot, he jammed w/ a buddy of mine at a record store i used to work at

accding to someone at subpop, he moved to a midwestern state. and is living a quasi-average life.

the only up to date information on earth that i can find is at www.noquarter.org, if that website is invalid just search google, under " no quarter records" and you should find the website. no quarter is the label thats been putting out his latest material since pentastar i believe. one of them is a reissue of sunnamps and smashed guitars ( live album ) with three bonus tracks, and the other is a reissue of their first release " extra capsular extraction". according to the website, earth is expected to be doing some tours on the east coast this september, and TWO more releases are coming out! hellll yea.

well whatever problems hes allegedly had, hes seemed to get them under some kind of control, since their have been two more releases from them since pentastar. their new "label" noquarter has put out a reissue of a live album with 3 bonus tracks and a reissue of their first release," extra capsular extraction". while theres no new material there, the website said that they are expecting two more NEW ( hopefully) releases from earth as well as tourdates on the east coast this upcoming september. hell yea

OK, a few things ... It'll save Mike having to reply!

No Quarter's website is http://www.noquarter.net

The only No Quarter release thus far is the reissue of "Sunn Amps And Smashed Guitars" with the four bonus tracks from the "Extra- Capsular Extraction" demos. All tracks were previously released (three of which with different or slightly different titles), but not officially.

It doesn't say anywhere on the No Quarter website that the two new releases planned are by Earth.

Sub Pop released the "Extra-Capsular Extraction" reissue! http://www.subpop.com/scripts/main/catalog.php? cat=true&display_type=merch&bandname=Earth

But whereas the original CD only release was in a thin card cover, the reissue is in a jewelcase. I've already posted my thoughts on the vinyl reissue - "Absolutely perfect".

Most of the information is already on this website!

michael gillham is correct

no quarter only did the "sunn amps..." reissue, the two other releases mentioned on the site are for different bands. sorry for the confusion

here are the live dates:

09/16 - Boston, The Pond (aka The Hideaway) 09/17 - NY, Knitting Factory (also live on WNYU @ 4pm) 09/18 - Philadelphia, Khyber 09/19 - Washington DC, Velvet Lounge

uh oh. sorry for the shitload of misinformation. somewhere i thought i heard that the extra capsular extraction ep was also a no quarter release. as for the two new releases, i assumed they were from earth because by looking at the info and pictures on the site it looked like it was pretty dedicated to earth. that AND the fact that im dying for new earth material so my desire filled in the blanks. according to the knitting factory webpage ( of the club that earth is playing at in nyc) earth has some NEW material however. i would hope so after 6 damn years!

I just saw Earth last night at the Kyhber in Philly. It was Dylan Carlson, looking very clean cut and wearing a sharp black on black suit, and a young lady on drums, performing as a two peice. ,Mark Hall

Dylan?

I happen to wonder the same...anything about Dylan?

-- Anonymous, November 05, 2002

He's alive and well (and looking much healthier than he did back in '97); yes, Earth still exists. I saw Dylan in late September in D.C. He's supposedly working on material for a new album. He will be at the Re-bar in Seattle on 12 Nov., if you'll be anywhere near there. Check out this promo @ http://www.worldmisery.com

Earth's playing at SXSW in mid-march, too.

I don't wanna regurgitate the sme question, but is it safe to say that Earth still exists? I guess from the answers that I got from here it seems so. Also, what website is the one to check on for information? Is no quarters the only one, or are there other ones? All in all, hope something comes up soon.

-- Anonymous, April 29, 2003

There was an interview at stonerrock.com where he said that after going through rehab programs, he got a job as a picture framer. Now he's back into music, thankfully :)

As for photos, check this website for photos taken at Earth gigs late last year.
