Hi, everyone. I know I am behind the power curve on the quilt swap, but I wanted to let everyone know that I am feeling more comfortable with participating. I've found two patterns that look really easy, and the RWB color scheme should look great.

Couple questions:

"Sew with the bias edge on the bottom, whenver possible" - I'd love to do this, but what is a bias?

Has it been deffinately decided for regular cotton fabric or flannel? Does it matter if it's both?

I hope to find out about the fabric so I can get it tonight.

Wendy-I sent you an e-mail about this, but for anyone else, regular cotton fabric please, the flannel swap is in the fall.

about bias-when you lay out your fabric, if you look at the woven threads you see they run up and down, and across. Now if you cut out squares, and you lay it out to align with the up and down/across threads, (which you are supposed to do by the way,) you are cutting "on the grain"-the grain being those up and down and across threads. But sometimes you cut at an angle across those threads-like a triangle for example. Thats bias cutting. If you cut a 90 degree triangle and two sides are aligned with the up and down/across threads of the fabric, the third side that goes at a diagonal across the fabric is the bias side. Cutting diagaonal from the selvage is bias cutting. If thats not clear, I'll try to find a better definition ok?
