Too early to risk Bellamy. And presumably Bobby reckons the best way to get the most out of Cort is to let him play himself back into some form. It's certainly good motivation for him not to let his manager down.

Well I personally hold him responsible for getting us knocked out of the FA cup. He should have buried those chances in the first game. I think Dyer needs to start up front with Shearer, with Acuna and jenas in midfield.

Cort could do with a goal. Put it that way.

I don't think anyone would argue that he hasn't been struggling. What Bobby has to decide is whether he'll get better, quickly, if played or whether we just give up on him.

Why can't he play himself fit in the reserves? That way he should be ready by, say, December.

He played 3 or 4 reserve games, scoring twice. In retrospect, perhaps he should have played longer in the reserves but we all know the circumstances at the time and weren't complaining. I would say it's 50:50 now whether he's dropped back to the reserves, or whether the confidence booster of Bobby sticking with him is the better approach.

As long as he scores tomorrow(and we win) I'll be happy.

i'll be watching to see if Cort can trap the ball.

cort was a good player before his injury, if he gets it back he's a better bet than shearer.

that said, bob has made a mistake by allowing him to play his way to fitness (he's been out for almost 2 seasons for criisakes) at this stage of the season if we'd had a fit striker we'd have beaten arsenal at sjp and maybe beaten ipswich.

of course he bob will be vindicated if cort scores 10 goals and we win 8 on the bounce but this is a unlikely since shearer is the wrong partner for cort (and vice versa).

brilliant!

I think Bobby deserves some credit for sticking with Cort. He looked a changed player after he'd scored.

Didn't they all Pete. But it still won't stop us slagging him off tonight if he has a mare. That's what we're here for. As WC Fields replied when told not to kick a man when he's down, 'Is there a better time?'

I was sitting slagging him off just before he scored :) he did indeed look a better player after he'd scored....long may it continue!

As supporters, we only get to judge a player on his performances on the pitch (especially now that training is closed to the public). It must be frustrating to see what a player can do on the training ground, and then see him fluffing everything in an actual match. Inevitably, we have less patience than the manager in these situations, but it goes to show how much of the game is in the head and how valuable a good manager is in getting the best out of his players. At times this season we have been critical of Bobby (substitutions/tactics etc.). I suppose he doesn't always get it right (perhaps he's only a demi-god?) but I for one now trust his judgement entirely. Walking in a Robson wonderland...

In case anyone hasn't seen it, the answer to DSS's original question is on the 'Bellamy Out Tomorrow' thread...
