What;'s for Supper?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

Since I am cleaning today and the kids are home, I am thinking of something simple. I think I will put a big pot of vegetable soup on to cook this morning, then we can just have it whenever we hungry. Hopefully there will be enough left for tomorrow too.

We're having Poor Man's Lobster, baked potatoes and a big salad.

We are having a grease supper tonight (ie: hamburgers and fries). Hey, Ardie, what is poor man's lobster?

Meatloaf, mashed potatoes, the last of the sugar snap peas and homemade rolls, I am thinking of opening the last jar of cherrys for a cherry pie, but can't make up my mind. Do I hord it or do I share it?

I have a left over pork roast, and will grind some of it, and make taco"s, And the rest of the port I will use in tamales. So tonight it will be taco"s and ice tea.

Since we're leaving in the morning for NY we'll be having leftovers to clean out the fridge.

I have tofu, sweet potatoes, carrots, apple pie, salad greens, yogurt, turkey, cheese.......hmmmmmmmm - should be interesting!

;)

I'm hungry already, and it's only 10:30! I'm falling down on my menu planning, but I am thinking chicken and....so far. I'll have to go poke around the pantry. Baked potatoes sounds good. Carrots? Fresh asparagus (I'll have to eat that one myself, Lance and the boys prefer that nasty canned stuff). I'd better quit, I'm just getting hungrier!

Probably a snack tonight since I'm traveling, but lunch is usually our big meal. Today it was salad with broccholi, tomatoes and chick peas, rice (the beans turned bad during the night), fried manioc (a friend raised the manioc and gave it to us last night), and breaded chicken (we call it à milanesa). I pigged out on the manioc; was delicious.

The second night of Passover is tonight, so glorious seder fare - brisket, fruit compote, gefilte fish, carrot kugel, matzah ball soup, chopped liver, roasted asparagus, roasted potatoes, spinach and strawberry mousse cake for dessert. Its a good thing we don't eat this way all the time, or I'd weigh 300lbs!!

How was it Ardie?

Sharon--sounds delicious! What? no whitefish salad (yum, my favorite!)

Regarding the Poor Man's Lobster, it was very good. Many years ago, I made it with pollick fish too and it also was fine.
