Burning a vcd created with nanodvr using Roxio cd creator

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

There seems to be a problem burning Cd's created with Nanodvr's encoder. When a compliant vcd movie is created using the "recommended" realtime capture card (specifically the Hauppauge wintv series), Roxio will only burn the video if the movie is saved using PAL 352x288 format. Files saved using NTSC 352x240 format will halt the burning process (or create an error message if creating a CD image). This seems somewhat partially due to the file being saved by Nanodvr at 30fps (not 29.97) but this is the only choice that Nano has given for an NTSC VCD compliant MPG file. Nanodvr will save a file as NTSC 352x240 mpeg compliant but CD Creator will display a "cif" file creation error when an attempt is made to burn the NTSC vcd into a VCD image file or it will just lock up the software if burned directly to a cdr .

For the record PAL format would be okay but the Wintv card it supports is on an NTSC system so the movies created have a boxed video redraw inherently due to software motion compensation adjustments made when videos are created in PAL format using the NTSC source capture card.

Answers

Throw away Roxio Easy CD and use Nero. For encoding try TMPGenc.
