That plane on the photo is Sweetie's plane. Well, I mean he doesn't OWN the damn thing, but he used to fly one just like it--S-3 Viking.

Priest Chic: Like royalty of old, Hillary Clinton has taken to traveling with her own priest. a fully robed Franciscan friar called Father Brian Jordan who tells the traveling press covering Hillary's trip to Ireland that he is the chaplain of Ground Zero, whatever that may be, and touts her husband and her political future from the back row of her speeches. Interesting accessory and we wonder who is paying for him.
Mr. Kelly Reads for You: If it weren't for Michael Kelly actually reading the latest four Clinton books some of us might have had to do it ourselves. Here's just a taste of his book report. "What comes across as the most important source of Clinton's uniqueness as president is the nearly unbelievable degree of his essential unfitness to be president -- his profound immaturity, his pathological selfishness, his cynicism, above all his relentless corruption." There's more in his column today and it makes it a very satisfying read.
W Knows Where to Find Them: In case you missed it, take a look at the background and life adventures of W's nominated Surgeon General, Richard Carmona. It reads like that of a living action hero. A Puerto Rican, raised in Harlem, Green Beret trauma surgeon who moonlighted as a member of an Arizona SWAT team. Could macho be back? We sincerely hope so. Come on in, Doc, and bring your friends.
Ldotter Prayers Solicited: West Coast Editor Amy Sheehan, the engine and spine of this site stopped working her usual 24 hour day last weekend because of the excruciating pain. Yesterday she underwent emergency surgery at the Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage, CA. They took away her cell phone, her laptop and all sharp instruments but not without a fight. She's recuperating nicely today but it was scary for her, scary for us. She's an extraordinary woman and deserves your A list prayers - not the little ones having to do with no rain or those extra 5 pounds - the really, really big ones, the prayers you save for yourself and the people you love. Get to it, she needs you. Oh, and an E mail to come home to would be nice. She's at asheehan@gte.net.
Your Most Grateful LComStaff
Links of interest: A PS about Amy. She had an appendectomy just over a week ago. Last weekend, she had another op to take care of cleaning up the site and rerouting the bowel after a raging infection--I have to think that the surgeon nicked the bowel and that's why the infection. Scary.
