Kieron Dyer - World Cup 2002

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

SGE has said today that Dyer is guaranteed a place in the England WC squad - providing he is fit.

I can't decide how to interpret this one.

Does this mean Dyer now plays for NUFC with less pressure on his back and more confidence and freedom as he doesn't need to go out and impress as much, or does it mean he will tone down his non-stop approach to stay injury free for the World Cup?

if he doesn't pull his weight Bob will drop him, he DOESN'T want that

Will he drop him though?

There really is nobody else to come in that is anything like him. (for NUFC)

From what I read, I would say SGE stopped short of saying his place was guaranteed. However, after watching that utter pile of s**te at Elland Rd. tonight KD could still be selected even if he had his bad leg amputated.

I have to say I am seriously worried about having Sol Campbell as a centre back for the World Cup.

Rio Ferdinand I have no problem with as he's pretty quick, but if Campbell goes up against someone quick and skilful we are completely buggered, to put it lightly. His positional play recently has been awful to say the least, especially for England.

I don't think we need to worry about Dyer easing off, he doesn't seem to know how. He always seems to give his all regardless of circumstance - didn't see the game, but by all accounts he was running his socks off even after we were 3 down which is to his immense credit.
