Is there a vcd player which can play boyh mp2, divx, avi files and auto play them.....

Not sure you will find a player for all these purposes straight of the shelf in a store, unless you live close to NYC and feel like visiting china town, otherwise, check into DAEWOO dvd players, they are very easy to hack ( firmware patch inserted through a cd. ), and are very affordable. Downside, they dont come with options like kareoke.

No currently available standalone players support AVI or DivX. It's anyone's guess as to whether such players will ever exist. There has been some work on trying to make a build it yourself PC in a small enclosure that could play all these formats, but these projects are very much do it yourself and in the very beginning stages. Apex makes some nice players that can handle a variety of formats - DVD, VCD, SACD and MP3. I don't recommend their 3 disc changers or the 7701 model as these units have many problems. Their single disc players (with the exception of the 7701) are generally trouble free.

i have an apex..what is an sacd? standard audio cd? i think since divx is popular among some that maybe a manufacturer will soon come out with a standalone divx player.apex is also firmware upgradeable to region free and macrovision free.

SACD means Super Audio CD, and is the the new hi-res (24bit/2.8MHz DDS) multi-channel audio CD format championed by Sony and Philips, among others. The mentioned Apex player accepts them but, according to a recent Sound & Vision magazine review in fact IS noisier than a standard CD. At least for that player.

I dont have a clue.Trying to get started . But cant find a player to play cd after i burn then. Have bought two dvd players and neither one will play vcd.Each time the salesman assured me it was what i needed. If you find some thing pleas let me know. Thanks

Just cause you burn it doesnt mean it was burned in a acceptable format.I have ripped and burned several movies.All work and play on my Toshiba-color stream sd-2815 DVD/cd/Vcd player.Cost $150(carousel) I ripped them with Easy VDC used TMPge 2.57 to Change them to VCD.Easy VCD does most the work.Then I used a splitting program called Mpeg tool to split it.Then used Nero 5.5 (with the mpeg converter plug in)You can find the plug in for free if you look for it.Nero charges $20.It takes a while for it to recode & burn.All worked when ran through the plug in.Good luck
