Cooking Hint of the Day - Easy Zesting

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Cooking & Crafts : One Thread

If you don't have a tool for zesting, try this trick. It's fast and doesn't leave a lot of zest behind in the holes of the grater.

Cover the zest side of your grater with plastic wrap. Grate the citrus fruit over the plastic, but don't grate the bitter white pith that's under the peel.

The bulk of the fine aromatic zest will stay on the plastic and won't get stuck in the holes of the grater. Pull the plastic off and shake the zest onto a plate
