I was just about to post this, you beat me to it. IF Stam's Nandralone problems aren't going to be a problem and IF Lazio are looking to sell, I can't think of a better signing for us. Uncle Bobby has been going for young players but he's brought the average age of the squad down sufficiently now - we all know what we need at the back is an experienced no-nonsense defender. Pay the 10m, see if we can flog some of the likes of Griffin, Elliot, Quinn & maybe even Dabizas (I'm assuming we're never going to be able to sell Marcelino). Still leaves us with Distin, O'Brien, the Caldwells all able to play at centre back. I'd certainly rather we splashed that kind of money on someone like Stam than Emerton.
