Can no longer burn V CDs

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I have been able to burn and watch several Video CDs using Nero Software and TMPGEnc. However, this morning I went to play the VCDs that I burned last night, and I my DVD player would not recognize the disks. I tried to burn a new VCD with the same file. I noticed when I burned it, it gave a message of buffer underrun error avoided twice. (It now does this EVERY time I burn a VCD.) I try to use the new VCD in the DVD player, and again it will not recognize the VCD. I try to re-encode the file with TMPGEnc and than burn another VCD, still does not work. The only joy I have had today is smashing useless VCDs - please help!!

Any ideas?

Thanks, Chris

I have the same issue on my DVD player, it played VCD's when I first purchased the damn thng, but now it refuses to play VCD's burned on CD-R's but will play them when burned on CD-RW's. Has something to do with the way CD-R's are made. The buffer underuns are caused by your machine ( lack of memory, slow transfer rates, too many programs running at the same time ) try upgrading the bios on the burner and your pc, that might solve that issue, and if that fails, slow down the recording speed, that should also take care of the issue. Ohh, and check this site ( http://www.vcdhelp.com/dvdplayershack.php) they might have a crack for your player which will enable you to play all different types of dvd's and types of discs.
