Fill in flash with M7

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

Dear Leica friends,

I am dreaming about new M7. A few questions. I suppose the new M7 is also TTL with older classic flashes only in manual position (1/50sync). Does it work with SF20 LEICA flash in fill-in operation? I suppose there will be no difference with the M6 TTL. If I choose the new METZ flash, specially made for high speed with M7, is the fill-in flash still possible in auto position or only in manual position (as with M6TTL)? Thank you and best regards from Belgium. Michel

Michel,

Regarding the HSS mode with the M7, look here.

Now regarding the TTL mode, with the M7 in manual, the SF20 and Metz with SCA 3501-3502 work like with the M6TTL. With the M7 in AE mode, they will automatically switch the speed to 1/50s.

There is no new flash for the M7. The only flash unit working in HSS mode with the M7 is the Metz 54-MZ3 + SCA3502, and that combination was on the market since Photokina 2000.
