Who plays against Everton?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Just wandering about the Everton game. Cort still looks unfit and as sharp as a spoon. I know it will take time, but have we really got the time.

How about playing Bernard on the left wing. He works hard, and has pace. Move Robert up front with Shearer and play Dyer with Jenas in midfield.

If Speed is fit I'd go with him and JJ in middle with Dyer up front with AS. If unfit I'll go with your selection Rob

It should be plain to see that AS-CC does not deliver. Scored once in five matches, has it?

Rob - this has been suggested ad nausuem on here ever since CB was injured, and I'd be quite surprised if BR changes his mind on CC at this stage.

Indeed, apart from possibly bringing JJ back in alongside KD - despite saying this pairing wouldn't work in justifying JJ's substitution v Ipswich - I reckon he would probably have stuck to the same team and formation against Everton.

I really believe Hughes, O'Brien, Solano, and Shearer desperately need to be rested. I wouldn't play Dyer up front because he isn't a natural forward player and at this stage of his career we shouldn't be messing him around. I believe Griffin and Distin are our best FB's - but Distin is also our best CB, and we need his aerial ability and pace in the centre. After Distin, Elliott is our best LB.

While utterly irrelevent, my selection - taking the opportunity to rest perhaps for just one game Solano, Hughes and O'Brien - would be the following, barring injuries:

Given

Griffin......Dabizas.....Distin.....Elliott

Dyer.....JJ......Speed.....Bernard

AS.....Robert

Forgot about Speed. Yeah if he's fit then play him next to Jenas an play Dyer up front. Atleast then we'd be able to rip people up with Dyer's pace and Shearer wouldn't look isolated up front.

Carl Cort will take time, but I say save him for next season. We need the Champions League spot. Need pour best players out there. Cort is't one of them however.

Going from the reserve reports on here, why not give Marcy a go ?

I think it's daft to write him off completely - he could save us a load of money if he could be re-habilitated.

And even if not, at least he's in a bigger shop window. But, realistically, probably nee chance.

PB - I suspect there's just too much downside, both for Marcia and for BR, in playing him right now with the Club under severe pressure. If it went wrong I'm afraid the crowd would go wild: way too much baggage.

Chopra!!!!

from a bench point of view (sort of flat and square) Chops might not be a bad idea but Lua has to be a better bet, nobody has mentioned Lua yet as an option.

There was a fan at Kings X trying to get Malcolm McDonald to put his B&W shirt on. I think I preferred the miserable sod when he was on the sauce.
