Ha! I actually know this one- It is the Samson trademark, registered on May 27, 1884.

I see my staff has fumbled again, they gave me Underwood deviled ham as the oldest which was created in 1866, patened in 1870, but not registered until 1886 two years after the Samson rope company. EK, your email tells us your are in Florida, why don't you run a 6 foot diameter pipeline up here and pump us some sunshine, I need about 300 gallons per hour to get my motor running!! Its 19 outside here this morning.

New question: What rescent Academy Award winning movie was presented with 1/3rd of the dialoge being not English?

-- mitch hearn (moopups@citlink.net), March 23, 2002.

I want to say "We were Soldiers",but that hasn't been out long enough for an Academy Award. Great movie, though.

Yes, underware; brassiers to be exact.

New question: There is an extremely tiny nation located in Europe. This nation issues its own passports, stamps, vehicle tags; citizenship is by birth only; there are no religous connections whatsoever, and the entire place named _____________________ could be measured in square feet rather than square miles?

Monaco?

-- Karen (mountains_mama2@hotmail.com), March 23, 2002.

Either Liechtenstein or the Vatican??????

-- heather (h.m.metheny@att.net), March 23, 2002.

I would guess the Vatican, except for the religious connections.

Lichtenstein is a good guess.Monaco is also very small, but do they have their own passports?

-- Johna (marcnjohna@aol.com), March 23, 2002.

This nation is no bigger than about two tennis courts as its total area. I made a mistake in an earlier post stating that no religous connections were there, researching it I just now found that there are ancient religous ties. The "nation" is reconized by the U.N., its based within Rome but there are "chapters" all over the world. This offical nation was founded by the Knights of the Crusades and is less than an acre in size. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Wait a sec...citizenship by birth only...that lets out the Vatican.

OK,you piqued my interest, and I had to check it out on Google. I finally found it,but now I can't answer. Good one Mitch.

-- Polly (jserg45@hotmail.com), March 23, 2002.
