Some japanese versions of SLR have panorama setting, but it seems it is becoming less popular, isn't it? Is there any newer model that has this design?

As far as I know, the most recent canon to have this feature was the EOS 55, which was an all-black version of the EOS 50e (Elan IIe). I thought the EOS 55 looked a lot better without the silver also.

Anyway, AFAIK the panorama setting only prevents light from reaching the upper and lower parts of the film. You can achieve the same effect by having the picture printed at a larger size and cutting off the upper and lower parts.

However, it's cheaper to ask the photofinisher to crop a normal neg or slide for the panoramic format. In Japan, a focusing screen with panoramic mask lines etched into the screen is available for the A2/EOS 5.
