Contax SLR Repair

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

Hey, I know this is off typic but you all are always such a big help. My dad had a Contax 139 die and he's got a few bucks tied up in several Zeiss lenses. Anyone know a safe/reputable place to get it repaired?

Thanks

I think that Don Goldberg at www.dagcamera.com would be willing to repair it.

I think Contax USA will do a repair/CLA for a fixed fee of something like $150. I know they still do the 159, and I'll bet they still do the 139 as well.

I agree. Contax U.S.A. does an outstanding job and the turn-around time is very good.

I don't think DAG carry Contax parts.

Your best bet is go to Contax/Yashica USA, or Contax Yashica Canada. A few years ago I fixed my 139 at Contax/Yashica Canada at Missisauga, Ontario, repaired stuck shutter, change leatheret and over all check for C$150

Keep in mind that the camera goes for 150 - 200 dollars ( especially the ones with a torn leatherette , which is easy to fix ) . It might be worthwhile to just pick up another body on ebay .
