Kicking @rse - match thread

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Well, it's matchday over there in Blighty, so I guess it's time to start the Match Day thread.

God - I'm sick. I'm bliddy-well stuck here 4,500 miles away when I wanna be somewhere else. And what's more, no TV and those nice guys a the FA (which is just about as much as they know about treating ex-pat fans) won't allow the bliddy webcast. Grrrrrr!

So, if there's any kind bodies around tomorrow who can keep us up to date, then please do. One small point - as it's a 6:00am KO over here, will you please keep the singing down (min) until the second half.

Fats - NUFC.COM have a load of USA bars listed that are showing the match.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

I looked on NUFC.com - could find a list of US pub's - I know they used to have it - where is it located now?

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Well we've got it live on TV here in Singapore (Ch 22 at 7.55pm. S'pore / HK time) - so I'll be spouting out some more of my (completely unbiased) opinions on the game.

;7)

That's the downside of being a "jet-setter" (in Evening Chronicle- speke!) Screacher. ;o{)

I'm expecting the entire tribe round any second to watch the game - I'm feeling unusually nervous.

Wonder what the team is? The Journal this morning has Nobby saying Laurent Robert will win it for us - well, let's hope so. I'm going for 2-1 to us. Talk to you later.

He scored at Highbury against us in December. We can do it!

Bergkamp FUCK 2-0

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

They layed us off the park at Highbury against us in December in the first 20 mins. We can do it!

Aw bollox! This is a nightmare. I think I'll go back to bed :(

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Shiiiiiiiitt!!!!! Berkamp scores - (:o( We`re two goals down and it`s not even ten minutes in.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

No apology this time :-(

Schoolboy defending :-(

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Has anybody apart from Given abd Shearer touched to ball for us?

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

oh lord. this doesn't sound good at all.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

That's a good idea Martha..........Let us pray.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Aw h3ll....just woke up and log on to find out we're 2 down already?? I'm going back to bed. Maybe when I wake up again, this will have been a nightmare and we'll really be winning.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Sorry, lads and lasses but I think if we don't laugh we will cry. Game over, innit?

Can anyone tell me what happened for their goals.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Pires go the ball from Vera and curled in a shot from an acute angle for the first

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

if we're going to get back into this, we need to start getting them sent off. someone-- tell robert to fall down! sigh.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Distin booked :-(

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Wiltord to Pires out wide, crossed for Berkkap (sic) to poke in from 5yds for the second.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Oh dear. Do you remember getting stuffed 5-0 off them a season or two ago?

In fairness to the defence, Pires and Bergkamp will make tits of anyone but really....

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

O'Brien just headed wide from.....................

................2 feet!

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Yes, sadly I was there. Just flown in from, er, where was it? Oh yes, Minnesota :-(((

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Oh dear. I suppose it's hard to do too much about Pires when he's on song but honestly...

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Had a feeling they were saving themselves for us on Weds. Grrrrrrr. :-(

HOWAY LADS!!! Pick yerselves up!! We scored 3 last time we were down here, we can do it again!!!

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Remind me Dougal. Who was it at the first game at SJP that said she wanted a draw so we could beat them in the replay???

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Bud...gaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh re O'Brien. We may never get another chance like that.

We need Robert to turn it on.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Remind, me, Screach, who thought we'd get stuffed in the home game while I was predicting a draw in the pub beforehand.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

I was only trying to make you feel comfortable!

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

....along with my reverse psychology (or was it perverse?)

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Oh lordy. This sounds appalling. I actually think we are making them sound better than they are.

At least we are free to concentrate on the league, LOL.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Listening to game on the radio. Sounds like Shearer is going to score. You'd have to fancy us to go on and win it if we got one back before half-time.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Survival??

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

One goal and we'd feel less humiliated, too...

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

On the pessimistic side, this also removes our usual excuse to play cr@p in the league for the rest of the season

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Desperate measures. Broon Ale fer brekkie

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Like the radiant beacon he is, Jim turns up and says something positive. Thanks, Pet, I was in full wristslashing mode just then.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Nope...we're already safe...that excuse was used up awhile back. We've really got nothing to play for now. (except Europe, but that seems a foreign concept to our players) ;-)

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

By the time I've typed this, I've no doubt that Bottomnal will have scored again to prove me wrong, but we are actually doing quite well just in the past 4 minutes,

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

We could get point sdeducted Ciara for not trying

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

We must be doinmg well. Sports.com reckon Bergkamp fell over looking for a penalty.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Pires - Injured. Come ON!!!

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Lucky not to give away a penalty - more schoolboy defending. Looked a pen on Sky replay. We've missed three good chances since I sat down ten mins ago. Really think we can win this if we can get the next goal!

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

HOWAY MAN LADS, FERFECKSAKES: WINNING MAY BE BEYOND US, BUT DON;T HUMILIATE US.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Pires carried off, not a foul (self-inflicted) - why not 27 mins. ago? :-(

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

ahh...so sports.com are being their usual cr@p selves, I see. :-)

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Their bench isn't looking as threatening as usual: Semen, Dickson, Big Ears, Grim and Kan't

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Grimly for Pires. I bet Lolo's pleased!

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Robert almost scored with a 33-yard free kick :-(

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Pires was injured in that game against Juve on Wednesday, very possibly shouldn't have played.

BTW, the radio has just said that Berktw*t would have got a pen if he hadn't fallen down like a sack of potatoes.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Shit! Wrong underwear. Sorry folks. Just changed. We'll et better now!

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

No doubt Whinger will feel justified playing an injured player since he scored. :-(

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

how much time is left in the half, and do we still look like scoring?

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

The radio claim it was a "bobbler" of a freekick.

If we could only defend, we'd be doing quite well now. They've had fewer chances than in the league game that we won despite their having about 70 schots on target in the first 13 minutes.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

...not to mention laying on the second. B@rsteward.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Howay, Laurent, one minute of greatness is all that's needed.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Cmon lads!!!!!!!!

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Dyer apparently had a great chance, just then. Anyone see it?

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Two goals in a inute Dougal? That's pretty optomistic for you!

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

I have a lot of faith in French Bob. It actually only takes a second to score, so allowing for celebs, I think I've been quite reasonable.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

32:37

Shot by Kieron Dyer (Newcastle) right-footed from right side of penalty area (6 yards), over the bar.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

The injury to Pires has apparently muted the atmosphere.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Lua x2 on for Cort in 2nd??

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Screach, your spelling of optimistic reminds me of YBR saying that's he's an eternal optomestrist.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Carl Cort, 4-letter word, strting with "s" ending in "t"? :-(

Great run by Robert ruined by CC, Shearer gave him daggers and more!

Anothet 'f'-up by Cort as I type :-(

We've loadsa possession....that last ball :-(

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

American spilling Duds

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Are we saying that Cort (plus shite defending) has cost us the game?

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

How is Dyer doing? Maybe move Dyer or Robert forward with Lx3 in midfield?

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

who was it who was screwing up the back on those goals? or were just just more bloody world class finishing?

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

If we ove Lolo up, I'd bring on Bernard

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Bernard on left, Robert up front?

The thing that is now annoying me is that we actually have had more than enough chances to get into this game.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

What the fcuk's up with the "M" key on this bliddy PC????

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

I'd start with blaming our sh*te defending. If we could defend well and consistently, the situation wouldn't seem quite so hopeless. Then we could blame our inability to score. Imo. ;-)

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

How.

That feckin Mick Martin on Metro's a negative glass-half-full bastard, is he not?. Lolo's free kick "not terribly well struck", etc.

He's starting to depress me more than the scoreline.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

If your not able to watch the game, this is woefull. Our dodgy defence is gonna cost us dearly once again. Dabizas OUT, Hughes OUT. Keep Distin and O'Brien and get two world class defenders.

We've had most of the play since but dont be fooled. Arse are strolling it. Yet another let down I'm afraid. Will we EVER win ANYTHING I wonder?

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Dyer and Robert are both playing well, Dabs thinks he's Maradona, O'B's having an absolute 'mare, Acuna's not in it all and, as for Cort...

If we get a goal (possible?), the Ar$e might just bottle it....

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Great minds, Screach...

Isn't it typical than when Robert is apparently having a good game, it's all going to rat shit.

BTW, is anything happening on the right? Hughes and Solano don't have their hands full with Pires anymore. About time to see something from them?

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Forgot Bernard was on the bench.....good point. Though Bobby would probably take Robert off for Bernard. :-(

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Half-time.

Dyer looks a threat...one spark could do it. Robert also inventive...and Cort is desperate to score. Haway!

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

So, two goals and we're through, right?

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Funny, Andy, cos I'm admittedly just listening to the radio but O'Brien is the one they are mainly picking on for errors and almost giving away that pen. Apparently Hughes had hands full with Pires but, you know, better fullbacks than him will be made to look tits by Pires. Dabs apparently hasn't done much wrong and Distin has been ok but stupid to be booked.

Is this assessment in fitting with those who are actually watching?

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

...and, yet again, we have Shay to thank for two great saves in the final stages of the first half.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

H-T, great save by Shay in the death, thank God.

Come on YBR, kick their collective arses and, get Cort off!

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Much as I love Dabs' heart, he's just not good enough to be a regular starter for us. After he's out, he'll play a couple of great games, then goes to h3ll in a handbasket. Do we have any option if we take him off at HT?

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Ciara, now I'm sure Maradona went through a period of shit just like Dabs! Would you take out Maradona!

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Andy, which world class defenders were you thinking of and a) can we afford them and b) would they not prefer to go to Inter Milan.

We get into this criticism of the defence (based on one half of a match) every time we lose a game. O'Brien was hero at Highbury a couple of months ago, Hughes has been a hero for a couple of months, Dabs was the hero after the Makems game etc. I daresay YBR will make an assessment in the summer based on the whole season rather than on twenty minutes.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

No defence for 10 minutes - 2 down, could have been 3 as we were torn apart down our right flank: marking non-existent.

Then one-way traffic towards the Arsenal goal for 30 minutes. O'Brien missed a sitter from 3 yds, As chipped a beauty just wide, and good save from Robert FK, but although Dyer is doing OK we lack penetration. Acuna is pushing beyond Dyer at times leaving the back 4 competely naked. Two great saves from Given in the last few minutes keeps us in it.

Arsenal look to me as though they are tiring, and Pires has gone off with what looked like a bad knee injry. If we can just get one back we could still do something in this game. The Toon Army are certainly doing their bit.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Thanks, Clarky.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

On the plus side - we actually are playing some quite good football, possesion-wise. Cort is not doing the business. Could do with him coming off, Bernard or Lua Lua on might help. I feel sick - not because I think we are going to get a right stuffing, but because I think we are not far off getting back into it. Hope springs eternal and all that! HOWAY THE LADS!!!

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Dabs is hardly Maradona. And my criticism is based on years, not just 20min. Not saying we should get rid of him, because he does still do a decent job for us, but he's really not consistent enough to be an automatic starter. He seems to do better after he's spent some time on the bench/treatment table.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Dougal - the claim for a penalty on O'Brien was a typical Bergkamp claim ie. no contact, he just fell over. Dabz' marking is dodgy (as usual) but he not doing to badly after that first 10 mins. However, O'Brien has been rank awful. I'd take O'Brien off and move Distin into the middle.

Robert has the beating of Luhzny and could be our saviour. However, I have a feeling Lx3 will get his big chance in this game - should be interesting 2nd half as the Arsenal are definitely tiring.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Is this a new voodoo / curse / jinx - being on live TV? We've been on live for several weeks now and, look what's happened :-(

I'm not giving up yet, an early goal for us in the second half and who knows?

If Cort's problem is lack of "match fitness", surely YBR knows that; we can't afford to carry anybody at this leve1. I guess YBR has no faith in CC's possible replacements either :-(

Cort & Shearer, IMHO can never play together - I hope I'm (somehow?) proven wrong!

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Thanks to those of you with telly coverage. Sounds like we've still got some faint glimmer of hope. Now we just have to score 3 and prevent them from scoring any more. WE CAN DO IT!!! HOWAY THE LADS!!!

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Forgot to add - as Gal said, Cort has been total cr@p, and I'd still like to see Robert play up front with AS, with Bernard or even Lx3 on the left.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Yooooooooooooooooo Hooooooooooooooooo

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Cort and Shearer don`t work. (:o(

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

No subs. on yet, what's up Mr. Robson?

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Dougal, O'Brien is'nt having a good game but he is young and will get better. I'm prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt. Dabizaz, is the new Warren Barton...passionate and dedicated but simply not good enough. Yes Pires is a tough task but I've never been convinced about Hughes, just a personal opinion thats all.

As far as buying world class defenders is concerned, well we seem to be linked with top midfielders like Emerton so we should be looking to attract the best defenders also. There is absolutely no point in having an attacking team if they dont have a strong defence behind them.

Arsenal are nowt special today, but appaling defending has f*cked our season again.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Bud hows your flap?

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Clarky, O'B's dip in form is a bit worrying.

I have a feeling that we may have to splash the cash in defence over the summer although I still believe that, in three or four years, when O'Brien and Hughes are at their peaks, they will be awesome assets for us.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Actually Andy, our defending is not too good but our season is not over yet and Mr. Shearer is partly responsible for us not being in a better position in the table. I think we need just 2 goals, yes?

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Just been reflecting while I was in the shower (not a pretty sight!). We have to change things. Lua x2 could just cause a bit of chaos in their defence (as well as ours!). I'd bring him on for Cort.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

3-0 Campbell BOLLOX

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Game Over. I rest my case.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

#@$#%%$##$!!!!! :-(

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

I think sneaking him on as well as Cort will not help Minny Fats

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

OK, we need 5 goals. Where's my frickin hat.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

B@lls

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Bergkamp off the post, he's tekkin' the p!$$ :-(

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Andy, Hughes has had a brilliant season since Christmas (despite having had two weeks' holiday since August 2000) and I think we need to remember that he's 22, in his first season as RB and will go one to be a wonderful asset for us. As it is, there aren't too many goals against that you can trace back to Hughes. As you say, though, personal opinion.

We aren't linked with World Class midfielders. Emerton is merely promising. We don't need promising defenders, we need one estbalished shouty bastard =- an Eghiogu or Radebe would have done - to organise things.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Blow the friggin whistle. This is gonna be a rout.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

UYEWIULQYRHEIURYHHFHKEFKFSDJDFH!!!!!

5-0

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

My Leeds mate is online now asking if we want anything from Leeds' drive-thru clearance sale. ;-)

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Oh shut up woman! TIme to start supporting. "Come on!"

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Or maybe even 6 or 7 nil.

Bollox.

We have NEVER been able to defend setpieces.

There is just noway back into this bastard game, is there?

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Heads are dropping, come on, earn your godda*n wages!!!

B'kamp just misses again! :-(

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Supporting?? Screach. Newsflash - we aren't actually at the ground.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

After 40 years it's their turn to support me!!

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

No :(

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

53 The Gunners are swarming all over Newcastle

Who was it said Arse were tiring? :-((

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

We were doing better until Gus came online.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Hey - it's not so bad. The Beeb reckon it's stil 2-0 (despite Campbell's goal)

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

I hope your right about Hughes, Dougal but I aint convinced. He's been played all over the back four for a few seasons now and has'nt excelled over any long period of time. Yeah he's had a good run of form over the last four months but thats all. I really want to be wrong about him so only time will tell.

A world class defender is a priority in the summer. I dont know who, just someone who can dominate in the way you suggested.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

True, Mini Fats. At least I have been moaning about the quality of some of these players and the lack of ability to penetrate for a while now, who else are u going to blame?

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Oh yes it is. Damned auto refresh wasn't working :-(

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Sorry Gus. Nowt personal. Who else to blame? What about the 11 at Highbury?

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Any Inter-Toto spots left?

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

lol, Dave. Just what I was thinking as I sit here watching BBCA do a piece about how Chelsea is improving and will jumpt to 4th tomorrow if they win.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Fact is, Andy, he's 22 and may not have excelled for exactly the reasons you say, he's been played in four positions this season. He was doing very well as CH last season but at 21 should never have been the mainstay of our defence - he had a drop in form. Is this that surprising? Andy O'B is having the same sort of drop without the same sort of excuses (no criticism of him). This is his first season at RB and, having taken an understandable while to get used to it, has come good. I think we have to give him the benefit of the doubt on the basis that I can't think of too many FBs who reached their peak at 22.

By World Classm, you are talking top 1 or 2 players in that position in the World and I'm afraid that is probably still out of our reach. No reason at all why we can't get someone of the Ekhiogu/Southgate hew though ad we

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Surely time for an inspired substitution. Three at the back (!), Lua x2 and Robert up front with Shearer and Bernard on the left?

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

I think it is the fault of who ever started this thread, we never do well when they are started by either someone out of the country or not the regular thread starter!

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

If we're not careful Ciara BURY might overtake us!!!!

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Andy, Hughes has just blocked a cracker from Viera ;)

I repeat, has Solano touched the ball today?

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Surely YBR has to try to change things???

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Agree with Dougal re the world class thing. IMO we'll do far better getting someone who fits into the team, and will be a team player, whether or not they fit the definition of 'world class'. A defensive version of Bellamy would do. IE, someone not too expensive and whom no one expects much of, but turns out to be exactly what we need.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Maybe he wants to protect the 3-0 defeat, Screach..??

Actually, by now, I'd have put all of the subs on except Harper just to see whether it would bemuse Arsenal.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

And a defender as gobby as Bellamy would be good...especially if he turns his gobbiness to his team mates rather than the ref. ;-)

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Three wheels on my wagon..........

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

20 mins. left, not much hope now I'm afraid. Still no subs. for us either.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

What a great idea Ciara. The ugliest back 4 on the planet!!! Bellamy,Acuna,Obrien and Dabz!!!Nobody would even enter our half!!

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

What's the betting that jugeared twat Jeffers will score?

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Sod that dougal, bring Harper on as a defender!

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Dave, me mam thinks Dabs is gorgeous.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

lol...I think we'd have to recruit Keown if we really wanted to be terrifying

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Sorry Gus - you're right. I promise I won't start another FAC matchday thread this season

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Forget that, bring Harper on as a striker! He's got a decent shot on him

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

"...jugeared twat", what an imagination, dougal. LOL

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

They'll win it this year Dougal. His ears are on it if not his name!!

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Why doesn't YBR do something?

I mean, we are joyfully whining about our defence, but we actually had some ace chances in the first half so obviously our attack isn;t as good as we like to think.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Is this where I start supporting Boro in the semi? ;-))

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Cort scored, but......................

offside, $h!t :-(

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

At least it wasn't his hand this time

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Dave, my dog thinks Bellamy is hot stuff.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Dixon on for Wiltord, maybe Pat Rice will be the next of the geriatrics on?

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Fair enough Dougal, I hope your right. I dont want to sound like I have a bee in the bonnet about Hughesie. If we are having the same kind of discussion in two/three seasons time though I might do.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Hmmm. Was it offside? Not that it makes a great difference, like.

Anyway, in an attempt to cheer youse all up, can I just point out that we would probably have beaten the Smogs and then had to go to Cardiff to play Chelsea who we might conceivably have lost to. So it's all for the best. We can keep the money Cardiff and the Semi would have cost and save it for our glorious CL campaign.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Ok thats the dog and Dougal's mam sorted!!!

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Why isn't YBR putting any subs on? If only to get people rested fopr Friday.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Dixon on for Wiltord? Is Wenger stating to panic?

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Maybe YBR is leaving the 11 out there to teach them a lesson and humiliate them so they remember it

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

That's obviously it.

Having cheered you all up with my eralier point, I have to now bring you all back down by reminding you of our home record in recent seasons to Everton.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Exactly Dougs. @rse have brought of Jug-lugs and Dixon (and an enforced Grimandi). We've done fcuk all.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Well I feel real sorry for the travelling Toon Army and, as for no subs., YBR's got me flabbergasted........oh ok...

Brian Kerr (a debut in a FA Cup quarter-final!?) on, Lua Lua and Robbie Elliott all on, Acuna, Ditin and CORT all off.

Shrewd stuff YBR, with 7 mins. left :-(

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Well whoever goes off if anyone I hope it is not Dyer or Cort, they need the time on the park, cue for Cort and Dyer to be subbed.........

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Right - that'll make a great difference now.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Howay me Bonnie Lads!

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Why??? Subbing for the sake of subbing at this point. :-(

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

And in a remarkable final 7 minutes at Highbury, Newcastle United....

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Toon Army still singing that famous Manure song...

...

...."The Blaydon Races".

They (certainly) deserve better!!!

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Hey - one out of two isn't bad Gus!

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

LOL.

That is two weeks in a row that YBR's subs have left me staggered.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Argh. Free falling playing on the radio. It's an Amen.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Heresy I know, but I have said it before we need a more astute tactical coach. We are very naieve tactically at times.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Not even a consolation goal. Bah.

I bet Robert has something to say about this ;)

HOWAY THE LADS - WE'LL SUPPORT YOU EVER MORE, EVEN THOUGH YOU NEVER SCORE.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

rotfl, Dougal!! I think you need to get that one going on Friday. :- ))

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Peytar Weed might be looking for a job soon

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

al' ower, I we don't make a CL place now, our season's kn@ckered, UEFA isn't good enough - not for wor supportas!

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

I'll have to change my name to kod, (kiss of death)

Is it just me or has it all gone quiet in Bournemouth?

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Right lads and lasses: I fully expect the postmortems to be all about the defence (fair dos) but not scoring suggests that the forwards need some attention, too.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

It's aal right for you bu99ers oot there in Oz (and to a lesser extent in UK). You can go to bed soon and forget it aal. Wuz poor sods in US have to face a whole bliddy day ahead of us now. Nurse!

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

lets not forget the midfield for not creating or defending and the wingers for not getting the crosses in and the keeper for letting in 5

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Normal service is resumed.........we never win in Lahndaan.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

5? Did I miss something (ie. two goals)?

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Nonsense Fats!!! Sleep!!...it's 1:00am in Canberra and there's a club around the corner open for another 4 hours.

Oblivion, here I come !!!

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Be interesting to hear who, besides Given, comes out of this match with any credit. Seems like Robert did ok, from the text updates.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

3, 5, 25. What does it matter? We didn't score and would have lost the shoot-out even if they hadn't scored at all in open play :-(

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Sorry, I have a cold

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Well Wavey, enjoy it. I know what you mean about oblivion. Temp is 7F outside here. I think I'll go out for a walk. I might be away for a while..................

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

which one wavey?

bed Mini Fats? its only 10 pm!

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

I just hope we pull it together by Friday.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

You ready Gus? The Magpies sports club(Aussie Rules Club)

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Screach - that's right. We have at least been spared penalties and extra time.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Is that in Ainslie?

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

That's the best offer I've had in a long time Gus. Sadly, a walk in below-freezing temperatures seems a little more appealing at the moment :-(

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

No Gus, Kippax

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Hat, coat, scarf, gloves, long johns....................

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Kippax, I had them for breakfast

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

....................bliddy hell! It's fr***in cold oot there. Is that offer still on Gus?

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Sorry only 1 bad Benny Hill line a night

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Manure bukkake on TV next, am I becoming a masochist, do I have to watch it?

Come on you Smoggies!!!!

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Manure 1-0 down (Boksic) but how often does this happen and they just cruise back?

Come on you Smoggies !!!!

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Still 1-0 to the Smoggies at H-T, they've had other chances too.

I suppose it's too good to last?

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Not necessarily, Bud, although Man Utd losing only leaves things open for Wimberpool and Arse.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

4 Manc tw@ts booked so far.

Come on you Smoggies!

Dougal I'd much rather one of those other two won the PL than Manure - it's time for a change. PLUS I haven't written us of yet - not totally.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

You're a sick lot. You should all be in mourning

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

WELL DONE BORO!!! GREAT WATCHING THOSE GLORY HUNTING COCKNEYS LEAVING OLD TRAFFORD EARLY AND TAGGART'S MISERABLE FACE LOL.

I AM MOURNING SCREACH BUT THIS HELPS EASE THE PAIN A LITTLE, WE STILL HAVE SOMETHING TO PLAY FOR - THE TOP 3 TEAMS + CHEWSEA AND LEEDS CAN STILL TAKE POINTS OF EACH OTHER!!!

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2002

Is it too late for me to jump on the Boro glory bandwagon>?!! Just home from a bit of shopping...great news!!! Now if they can manage the same on April 14, it will ease the pain just that bit more. ;-)
