Recipe Tried: Poor Man's Lobster

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

Thanks Melissa for the recipe that you posted many months ago (I think it was you). I made it with frozen whiting (which was .99/lb at BiLO). Im not a big frozen fish fan, and don't want to pay fresh fish prices.

My family loved it--it really does taste like lobster!

This will make a big difference to our eating. Have you tried substituting olive oil for the broiling part?

We had it with baked sweet potatoes, creamed spinach and squash. Too full for the strawberry pretzel salad.

I'll post the recipe under Cooking from A-Z:P if you haven't already. Can you bump it back up for everyone??

Again--I hope you can read my excitement about this recipe.

Correction, I'll post in Cooking A-Z: F for fish. Isn't that a little better to find?

I do go back through those recipes. Does anyone else?

I don't think I posted it but it does sound good! I like lobster occassionally, but don't get it much. I like to look through the recipes as well. I need to start them again. I will have to look and see which letter we were on. I think we left off with "F is for fruit"

I don't recall seeing that recipe. But then,my memory is good, it's the recall that stinks!

Ann, could youu post the recipe??

Strawberry/pretzel salad?? Two of My Sweet Hubby's favorite foods? How can I find that recipe?

I'm sorry I don't know how to go and look these things up - didn't know a Cooking A-Z exists!

Gotta have it - please help!!

Bless You

On the new questions page, scroll all the way down and there is a place that says "old messages" we call it the 'archives" sometimes. There are all the messages ever posted here. They are arranged into categories. Look for "Cooking from A to Z" If you answer on it, it will come back up under the "new answers" section.

It says "Older messages"... Sorry!

Errrrrr....I went to Cooking from A to Z. I did a search and came up with nothing. What am I doing wrong? Where is it?

The recipe for "poor man's lobster" is under F, and is now on the new answers page.

Ok -- Michaela, Here is strawberry pretzel salad. I'll also post it under cooking a-z: S. I'll ask Melissa to bump to new answers ( Im not sure if she needs to do anything to have it become active)

It's always a good idea to look at "New Answers" when you come to the forum because someone might add something to a thread from long ago.

You can make this low fat by using nonfat cream cheese and low fat cool whip--it still tastes wonderful. I also wondered if you might be able to not put any butter or oil in the crust? I'll try it that way sometime and let you know.

Wow--that was a mess! Let me try that again. I don't understand the formatting:

Thank you to Melissa for the instructions and Ann for the extra trouble to post that most excellent sounding recipe!

Melissa, I had no idea that all that stuff was available! Duh, I guess I need to do some researching.

Ann, I printed out the recipe and will try it this weekend. I just love surprising My Sweet Hubby with stuff I know he likes.

Have a Peaceful Evening
