I would like to know when RPO's were discontinued on the Gulf Wind and also on the South Wind. Thanks in advance. Rick Milas

I'm pretty certain the South Wind never had an RPO - at least I have never seen any photos of it with one. There were plenty of other trains on the Chicago-Florida routes (Seminole, etc.) that carried lots of RPOs and storage mail. By 1966, at least, the Gulf Wind did not have an RPO - not sure if it carried one earlier, and if so, when it was dropped. The next issue of Lines South (2nd quarter 2002) will have a feature article on the Gulf Wind.
