Do you think that for a Leica M is strictly necessary the 21 mm viewfinder when I have the 24 mm viewfinder? With the 21 mm asph. may I use the 24 viewfinder? Obviusly..... I have to consider the extra lines... Thanks, Joe

The whole field of the 24mm finder is the same as the coverage of the 21mm finder.

It may be in the area of "urban Leica legend" but I seem to recall a claim made a few years ago when the first 24mm plastic finders came out, concurrent with the 24mm lens intro. That being sometime after the 21mm plastics were introduced.

Essentially it said the the 21 and 24 finders shared exactly the same optics. The only difference being the size of the brightlines placed on the rear optic.

Don't have a Leica plastic 21 to compare side by side, but can believe it looking at and through my 24.
