Dyer Signing new contract

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Ceefax has quotes from Dyer saying he's very happy at the clud and wants to stay. Talks between him and the club are apparently going very well.

I think many of the players are seeing what we, the fans can see. Players aren't being attracted because of our success but because they can see the potential for success. We are the team of the future.

That'll be filed alongside the 'new signings' rumours.

Dyer has actually got quotes to do with the story so at least there is some substance.

However, teletext takes the biscuit completely with their story on page 516. "Dyer has said that he will only stay if he is offered £100,000 a week" The quotes follow that, but nothing about amounts.

Can anyone find a quote where Dyer has said he will leave unless he is offered 100k pw?

No, If he'd said it, they definitely would have splashed it all over the place. I never take any notice of anything from the press unless it's got quotes in.

What Paul has said is typical of most reports whether it's ceefax, internet or Newsppers. A couple of quotes then an idea the newspaper has thought up. You just need to look at the quotes and ignore the rest.

So all we know for sure is that Dyer wants to stay here, his agent is discussing a new deal with the club and it's going very well, and that there's no rush because his contract lasts another 2 years anyway.
