Corners

Does anyone think we should be doing more with corners?

I remember at the start of last season a corner was like a chance nearly every time. Robert and Solano put in some great corners yesterday (as well as a few dodgy ones) but we got nothing from them. 11 Ipswich players in the box and only 6 of ours tells a big story.

Incidentally, LuaLua took by far the best corner yesterday, as the bend he put on the ball meant any header would need just to be directed, not powered towards goal.

Forgot to mention that we have had more corners than anyone else in the league this season. We have only scored 3 goals from a corner I think.

We pose less of a threat from corners than any team in the PL imo. Our players don't seem to attack the ball, and I wonder if this could be because they don't really know where it will be directed.

When I was previously able to watch training at The Riverside, I don't recall us ever practicing corners. This may have changed now.

I've long suspected our players of having some deep-rooted unnatural fear of the penalty area. Watching other teams seeming to have tons of players in the area both attacking and defending, while it seems there are very few black and white shirts there. Were they traumatized as children? Has someone put up one of those invisible electrical pet fences that only works on Toon players? Perhaps a bizarre form of Newcastle footballer secret society etiquette where only X number of players is 'allowed' in at once? Enquiring minds want to know! ;-)

i remember a spanish game from last season where all the players ran at a signl into a diagonal line from the corner flag into the box. The taker rolled the ball behind them and one player span and shot into the top corner. i think it was atletico. the other team were stumped. we should try a little creativity too!

Like the creative free-kick last season at home to Everton?
