You gotta laugh...

5 Live just did a recap of our match. The guy doing it described our penalty at the end of the match as being due to a 'hairline decision'.

Funny, I'd have thought Acuna's hair would result in a penalty against him rather than for him, but hey whatever..... ;-)

Nowt to laugh about I'm afraid. That was absolutely appalling. Shearer's miss was a shocker, but a win would have flattered us. The draw was the right result, two teams playing terrible football. We HAVE to beat Arsenal!!

We should have won (IMHO), sure we gave away STOOOOOPID goals, but we had plenty chances of our own.

If we can't beat the struggling sides (esp. at home) what more can we expect - no excuses.

I'll always be a HUGE Shearer fan BUT isn't that (one of the reasons - pressure, ability, captaincy...) why he gets paid all that money?

Wouldn't mind the Ar$e being substituted for Sheff. Utd., next Satrurday:

"West Bromwich Albion manager Gary Megson has insisted his side will refuse to play any re-arranged game with Sheffield United after Saturday's clash at Bramall Lane was abandoned.

Referee Eddie Wolstenholme brought an end to the game when it descended into farce after the Blades had three men sent off and two more went off injured as they trailed 3-0."

And us for West Brom of course, 11 v 6!

it gets worse:

Bobby Robson said: "You would have put your mortgage on Alan scoring and he is very, very disappointed. I have told him not to worry - $h!t happens."

Ipswich boss George Burley recognised how close they had come to defeat and said: "If there was one player you would chose in the whole of the Premiership you would want to take a penalty in that situation it would be Alan Shearer...

"Sometimes when you come away to these big stadiums to the crowd put the referee under pressure and they react to it.

"The crowd at times is maybe worth a goal start to Newcastle."

==========================================================

Claudio Ranieri sent out a warning to fourth placed Newcastle: "Chelsea are after you."

The Blues moved to within three points of Newcastle and automatic qualification for next season's Champions League, as well as recording their third successive 4-0 victory.

And after their drubbing of Sunderland Chelsea coach Ranieri said: "Newcastle are three points ahead of us now.

"Everyone knows it will be difficult but I have said it before, and I say it again now, we must try to overtake them."

:-( Howay the LADS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Geez, I start a thread trying to find some small bit of humour in an otherwise cr@ppy day and ya'll start forming the line to jump off the Tyne Bridge!

The season is NOT over yet!! We can still qualify for Europe next season. We still look on course for a better finish than the last few seasons.

Ok, so sometimes not being able to watch the carnage is a good thing. ;-)
