Sharon Herc said that she has been charged for Ameritech DSL service that she canceled in August. She told Local 4 that she has been battling Ameritech for almost eight months, because she continued receiving bills.

She said that Ameritech told her the bill was past due and threatened to disconnect her phone service.

"You know the commercial with the man holding the very long phone bill yelling he wants to talk to somebody? That's how I feel," Herc told Local 4.

Herc said that she wrote letters and made dozens of calls to Ameritech, to no avail.

"I have nightmares every night that I will be old and gray asking Ameritech to stop this," Herc said.

Local 4 contacted Ameritech for comment. An Ameritech spokesperson contacted Herc shortly thereafter and admitted that the company had made a billing error, Local 4 reported.

The issue has been settled.
