Protein in oats ?

How much protein is in oats ? What can you ad to rabbit feed to up the protein levels from 16 to 17 percent ? Thanks ~ Patty

According to "Rabbit Production," 8th Edition, oats are 12.1% crude protein.

If you are going for 16 to 17% crude, a bit of soy, which is in the 20percent range (don't remember exactly), Black oil sunflower seeed, 15%, and a very little bit of Calf Manna, which is 28%. The thing is to do everything so gradually or they'll get diarrehea. So I guess just a tic of the calf manna should do it.

Thanks Doreen thats what I was looking for .Most mills around here do standard 16%.I had some books and paper here last night but went brain dead {help!!!!}.I am working with a canadian company on a special feed mix .In the mean time I was wondering what everyone else did .My rabbits will be production meat rabbits.So I want fast steady growth,steady weights during gestation and lactation .What percentage does everyone else feed? Thanks ~ Patty
