Is what Sam had to suffer in high school and college worth the price of success which he had in wrestling?

Answers

elaborate please

What do you mean by maybe? Do you think you would find it worthwhile? He was successful, but was the price too great?

hey

I dont see anything wrong with growing up with pain. It does make you stronger and more resiliant. But neglecting injuries and not taking the time to recver from them is a bad idea if they will possibly cause irrepirable damages

K-diggity response

Learn how to spell K-Diggity Dogg. Also when you consider the fact of Sam growing up with pain and his injuries you realize that one injury can reoccur and ruin his career forever. It is not whether or not it is acceptable but whether or not it is worth the risk.

Michael Jackson

Actually, I think that Sam could have ruined himself as an adult. All of that wear and tear on his bones and muscles will come back to haunt him when he is older. He will need surgeries, have arthritis, etc. Ask Michael Jakson, he knows.

Fluffs

Sam seems like a well-rounded person, but i would not want him coaching my children unless he has changed his perspective on things. I think that the whole world should me made out of chocolate and gummy bears... it would willywonka-tastic.

Listen here juice

Listen here juice, if I wanted your opinion, I would've beaten you up and then asked for it.......then beat you up again because of your terrible odor. Secondly, it does pertain wether it is acceptable or not, because if it were not acceptable it wouldnt be a risk to begin with because it wouldn't happen considering that it is not acceptable.

RUKKERZ

Once again Keith, LEARN HOW TO SPELL. IT IS WHETHER not "wether". And honestly please, if you think that it does pertain to acceptibility then you're wrong, as usual.

RUKKERZ

I want to completely disagree with myself for what i just said and apologize to RUKKERZ and that I also smell of horrible poo gas.

Yes

From the view point of a former wrestler yes. The feeling of winning and match or tournament is a feeling like no other. Also from past experiences, the best wrestlers are able to deal with the extreme pain. This is one reason i did not excell i could not deal with some of the pain which this sport involves. All of this pain and suffering for a gold medal or for a four foot trophy seems stupid for a non wrestler, but for a wrestler all of the hardwork pays off when you finally win. In a sport this competative and so hard to compete in Sam's suffering is the success in wrestling.

No

Just to start a debate, what did Sam really earn. All this pain and no benefit. No.

I agree

He earned nothing but some happiness, he could have ended up nowhere, his life ruined. so I agree with rich.

Disagree

He earned a lot more than happiness, he earned something more important he earned respect, mental toughness, self dedication. He will never ever complain over something stupid, and will also work has hard as he can on something until her gets it accomplished. This characterists will carry him far into life. After the olympics a lot of olmypains make good work because because they are dedicated.

lets give up our lives

My bad respect is more import than life, no life is more important, I agree with Rich on this one.

no

What life are we talking about, you are not loosing your life. Respect is so important to people, look at John Proctor in the Cruicable he died to protect is honor and his name, Look at the Movie we saw yesterday being being imprisioned to save their friends. Did that movie teach you nothing?

Yes it was worth it

In wrestling sports injuries do get pushed aside to get success in the sport. I think that it is but from talking to past wrestlers who cut weight the whole time they wrestled in highschool they said they wish they wouldn't have because it only hurt them in the long run. For instance thay might not have grown or developed properly because they deprived their body of things it needed to grow. I know from wrestlers who were hurt just this season but it was during the biggest match and they still wrestled because they didn't want to let there team down or themselves down. The thrill of glory or winning was worth dealing with an injury. I know from sports I have played in if I was hurt I would just shake it off and continue cause I would think if I don't stay tough and continue to play I will like like a wuss and I didn't want that in a sport. Also if you performed well when u were injured you think look what I accomplished when I stuck it out and continued insted of giving up. I think that as of now dealing with the pain and sticking it out if u accomlpish what u wanted to accomlpish have to deal with a little bit of pain is worth it. Down the line if it affects me in the future then I might think back and be like why did I do that but now if I accomplish what I want to and strive and work for what I want even if I am hurt then it was worth dealing with the pain.

agree

I could not say it better myself, i completely agree with you.

Depends...

personally, i think it all depends on what your mindset is going into a sport. if you strongly feel you want to continue forward with a sport and believe you will be successful in it, then yes, it will be worth the price in order to excel because your competition will be paying that same price as well. however, if you are just playing a sport for recreation, then there really is no need to suffer, unless youre into that kind of thing. this reading really reminded me of my days i spent growing up on the farm back in iowa. on that faithful night, our donkey, code named Ralo, broke free and ranaway. being the only member of the family awake at that time, i had two choices. first, i would not chase after ralo because of my leg amputation, or i would have to wobble after ralo. in the end i just stayed home and ralo got hit by a semitruck.
