worth of used r6.2 -- end of the story

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

well, i asked about the value of a used leica r6.2 2 weeks ago and got a lot of answers. i wanted to find out, because the camera i really wanted was an m6. thanks again to all people who responded. so here is how the story continued. i went to the leica shop in vienna and asked about the worth of my r6.2. they said that they had to check the camera first, because the sound of the shutter was really strange. two days later i showed up again and the guy said he will give me 1000,- euros for the r6.2. (i bought the camera for 500,- !!!!) a used m6 did cost 1700,- euros what i could not afford. so i got a konica hexar, but wasnīt really satisfied when i left the shop. i donīt know why, but a few minutes later i turned around and went back to the shop to see what cameras are in the window. there was a m6 for 1380,- euros. so i went back into the shop and told the guy about the camera. he was really confused and didnīt know why the m6 was so cheap. he found out soon, it was a mistake because it was the price of another camera they already sold. he apologized for his fault and gave me the m6 for 1300,- euros. i gave back the konica camera, got the m6 and smiled all the way back home.

Hope you keep smiling then. Was there a lens on it?

I want to add to the comments on The Leicashop in Vienna. They are a very ethical shop. I bought a used Leica lens from them a while ago, and when it arrived it was missing the small knob/screw that tightens the tripod collar. I fully expected them to blow me off or tell me to order one from Leica US, but instead they got one from Solms and sent it to me in the US...the postage alone I'm sure cost them much more than the screw. It's the little things that make for outstanding goodwill.

At least, one happy guy.

The Konica has a lot of things according to the presentation. It's a good camera. However, it feels wrong against ZE Camera of the world.

Who cares, as long as your feelings are Okay.

Now, you'd better buy some film and publish something we can rejoice on!!! X.

i also have purchased used from the leica shop and they are very conservative graders. my 400 telyt was in much better shape than expected and should have been labeled "as new"

Wow. How'd you pay 500 Euros for a 6.2? And how'd they sell an M6 for 1300? Where is this place? Do they have a website? Can I see what they have? Seems like a great store.
