New bellows unit

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Pentax 67 SLR : One Thread

Novoflex introduced a new bellows unit for various cameras at PMA 2002. Mounted on a P67 it can be seen under http://www.novoflex.de/english/html/co_ema5.htm. Compared to the original Pentax bellows, the price of the Novoflex unit appears really attractive.

I agree that the original Pentax bellows was too expensive, but also look at the maximum bellows extension for both units. The Pentax bellow extends much further than the Novoflex unit. (Although keeping it stable on a tripod is another issue....)

Thanks for pointing this product out to us; I did not know it existed. I admit I used to laugh every time I saw the P67 bellows w/ price tag. I believe the new one, for the P67ii, costs $400-500 more than the old one, and that even though it exceeds the cost of 3 lenses, they still cant seem to include a reverse ring with the bellows kit! Though, I hear the Bronica bellows is pushing $2k, and that the Contax unit exceeds $2k, so maybe the P67 is not the most hilarious thing out there. I did find it odd that Rollei -usually the most expensive for any standard product- last year was selling their bellows unit for $999 - the cheapest MF setup on the market (though not all macro stuff from them was so decently priced; any takers for a $455 35mm extension tube?). I still find 35mm not only cheaper and easier, but in many cases better the 6x7 for macro. Just a personal opinion though. However, the Novoflex price looks tempting.
