Hi Cathy,

I did this question. My take on it was the values as in caring for the earth, and repect for each other and the place we were given to live in and with.

Hope this may either give you a clue as to where to start or definite make you decide this isn't the right approach but that you have a better one.

Here’s my attempt.

Initially we see that God is creating the Earth environment and all is seen as good. Order is created out of chaos. It is a simple story that does not mention anything of evolution, etc. It’s a story of one God, one creator. Having positive power over all in the universe. It is one account of the creation of the world. The people are not in the scientific/mechanistic era-age as we are to day. The paradigm was different, maybe of many gods, and fears of misunderstanding of the nature of the world. Good, Evil. Snakes (not political ones) and water –the deep. There are many fears different from the ones today (although many new ones are surfacing, suicide for young people, fear of not having enough material gods, opps sorry goods). There is nothing bad created. All is good. Things are seen in a light of black or white, absolute, simple in relative terms.

I’m not saying that we are not simple people, It’s just that we have more revelations, knowledge, i.e. New Testament to drawn on that help us, to use course terms, with a different paradigm.

This could be off the wall stuff!! Leonard
