Rubber foam replacement on R

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

In those old Lecia R ( R4, R5 R6 ), there is a small window on the back for viewing the film being used. The rubber foam very often got aged. What is the best replacement material that I used ( DIY type )?

Also, in some old camera there are also thin line of black rubber foam on the edge of the camera back door, any replacement material for that?

Call up your Leica distributor's parts department and they will have the precut foam in stock. It will be very inexpensive, perhaps even free.

By the time that foam has gone, the back door felt is usually mush as well. Call up Leica, I think it was about $15.00 for a new set.

I called up the Leitz Service @ Solms and got the parts for free for my R3.

It's easy to replace it.
