Anybody have a pre-home computer Spam Story

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

I've been hearing a lot of talk about Spam- Americas favorate alternative breakfast food.

A few years ago Ann and I re-visited our Marriage commitments, and went on a second honeymoon. Our first stop was in Saugerties, NY, after passing on staying in Newburgh (seemed too much like home).

It was fortunate that we had thick rod type tent pegs with us, as we could only get an R/V site, and we sure needed them!

We put up the tent and cooked "spam on a stick", a new tradition with us. Of course we make it spam lite. I would even try a veggie Spam if they had it LOL.

My mentor at work won a contest in the 60's, and had spam out the windows- all they wanted. It helped them make ends meet

My dh never had it served at home until after he grew up and left home. His dad was a WWII vet, and those guys never wanted to see a can of SPAM again! Along with orange marmalade...

My mentor had consumed way too much in the service, but had to put up with it till they got on there feet.

That is funny. I never had spam or orange marmalade the whole time I was growing up. I didn't ever realize it was cause dad probably hated it after the war. LOL
