Article - Finding the Center

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

I think most of you will find this article by Bethany Torode as refreshing as I did. It's called Finding the Center, and deals with the benefits of making your home the center of your universe. Deals especially poignantly with the role of the Stay Home Mom. Enjoy!

Good article. I hope that more people are able to find what makes them really happy as this woman so obviously has done.

Great article....

I'm going to print it & have my husband read it too -

We have been blessed that he works from home quite a bit & he has been able to see our daughter grow & be with her much more than many other dads we know.

My favorite quote from the article was this: "Though in the grind of the ordinary we sometimes forget it, human beings are the highest gifts of God in our lives. Without them, there would be no need to make sacrifices — but there would be no happiness either. Our families are where we must relinquish ourselves the most, and in return experience communion second only to that with God."

The author mentioned Psalm 128 in the article & I remember singing it from my childhood:

"Blessed the man who fears Jehovah and that walketh in His ways; Thou shalt eat of thy hands' labor and be prospered all thy days.

Like a vine with fruit abounding in thy house thy wife is found, And like olive plants thy children gathering thy table round.

Lo, on him that fears Jehovah shall this blessedness attend; For Jehovah out of Zion shall to thee His blessing send.

Thou shalt see Jerus'lem's prosper all thy days till life shall cease; Thou shalt see thy children's children, Unto Israel be peace."

(Wish I could sing it for you, but the words will have to do) ;)
