Memphis is correct.

I would like to contest the "fact" that Memphis, TN has the cleanest water. Would this be river, lake or ground water? I always thought that the cleanest water in the U.S.A. was in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area of Northern Minnesota. The water clarity is more than 30 feet (ie, crystal clear) and you can drink right out of the lakes. So name the place in Memphis that has water purer than this....please. Where is Mitch when I need him?!?!? --Happy trails, Cabin Fever

Mitch did give me this one to post. I believe it is the municipal water supply he is discussing.

City tap water was the subject of the test.

Oh Cabin, it couldn't be the Boundry Waters, we all know the moose do there business in the lakes.

That 30 foot depth of clarity in the Boundary Lakes is mighty damn good, I'll admit, but Crater Lake in southern Oregon puts that to shame. It is clear to a measured depth well over 100 feet. If I recall correctly, it is the clearest water in the world, ahead of Lake Baikal in Russia.

The Sargasso Sea has the purest water of any boby of water. It is almost as pure as distilled water. Lake Baikal is second. You can see over 130 ft down and the lake can purify itself with the help of numerous "cleaner" crayfish species.
