Codec

I own a Snazzi DVC II and use it to capture video clips directly to MPG format. I was told earlier that it is best to convert the MPG files to AVI for the editing part. Can I know which is the best AVI codec to use. Is TMPGEnc the best software to convert AVI back to MPG?

Thank you.

yes tmpg is really good also for codec use "huffy uv" it is a lossless codec. but you have already defeated one purpose of editing.if you capture in mpeg it is compressed then you want to go to avi and then back to mpeg.it aint gonna look too good. even if you edit in your cpatured mpeg and then export it is gonna compress it again and look really bad..it is better to capture in avi"uncompressed".

Thanks, John!

Which AVI codec do you use? MS Video-1, Indeo, CinePak?

If I'm correct that DVC has a FireWire input and has as a native codec type-1 DV AVI. If so use that.
