ASCH CONFORMITY EXPERIMENT?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : History & Theory of Psychology : One Thread

I hope that everyone has read the Asch's experiment on conformity. I could not find Asch's paper in the library or on the net. I am generally having problems finding journals prior to 1980s.

Many thanks

The exact reference can be found in most any social psychology textbook. It is:

Asch, S.E. (1951). Effects of group pressure upon the modification and distortion of judgements. In. H. Guetzkow (Ed.), _Groups, leadership, and men_. Pittsburgh: Carnegie Press.

The reason you cannot find it on-line is that it is (very likely) still under copyright protection.

Be sure to talk to your reference librarian. You may find that the journal is available on microform or microfiche in your library, and that your librarian can order a copy of the article through interlibrary loan.
