Question for Softie the Stat Cat

I am always saying that we play better when we attack the Gallowgate in the first half. Is this the sort of thing that your wee database of info could clear up?

You're wrong. We always score more in the Gallowgate end, has been so for ever. Particularly in the mid 70s when I believe we went 6 months with no goals in the Leazes End, (where Geordies never score) where I was standing. West Ham 2-0 (2-0 HT)

Carlisle 1-0 (0-0 HT)

Ipswich 1-0 (0-0 HT)

Stoke 2-2 (2-1 HT)

Wolves 0-0

Leicester 0-1

Luton 1-0 (0-0 HT)

Chelsea 5-0 (0-0 HT !!)

Man City 2-1 (1-1 HT one goal Leazes)

Leeds 3-0 (0-0 HT)

Spurs 2-5 (0-4 HT)

Boro 2-1 (0-1 HT)

also cup: Fulham 3-0 (0-0 HT)

Chester 0-0

A couple of famous ones.

Promotion season - last game Leicester 7-1 (6-0) at half time.

Fairs Cup Final - Ujpest Dozsa 3-0 (0-0) at half time.

To redress the balance slightly the 5-0 was 3-2 to the Leazes end.

I don't know if Softie holds the info as to which direction we were kicking. I'm surprised no-one's asked him about socks yet - or white shorts. :-)

Bastards. I was really quite happy with my database and yet now I can feel the chill fingers of a cold wind whistling through the cracks....:-)

Which brings up a good point: wind direction. I'm sure you can find the met office archives and find out whether we are better playing into the wind or not....

Softie, I was asking the question quite seriously!
