Anyone going to watch the 9/11 special tonight?

Is anyone planning on watching the TV show tonight that has the live footage of inside the WTC while the attacks were happening? I'm going to try to watch it but I don't know how far I'll get.

When is it on?

Thanks for the reminder, Sherri. I use Yahoo to get the TV schedule (let TV Guide go this year, after subscribing for about 30 years!), and this is their little blurb: "Filmmakers Gedeon and Jules Naudet document emergency personnel's response to the Sept. 11 attacks on the World Trade Center; host Robert De Niro."

Jay, it is on 8-10 p.m. central time on CBS. For you, I think that might be 9-11 p.m., if you're on eastern time. I wonder if they picked those hours specifically . . .

Anyway, tomorrow it will be 6 months ago. Does it seem that long to you?

Gee, I'd forgotten about that! Thank you Sherri. I've programmed it into my webtv so I can watch it while I'm "talking" here!! It will be a good test to see if I can do two things at once :-)!! Kinda like patting my belly and rubbing the top of my head...or is it the other way around!?

Sometimes I wonder if I might be the only person in America who has still not seen footage of the trade center attack. I know I could find it if I wanted to but ............

It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. The only point where I really lost it was when they were in the lobby of tower #1 and pointed out that the loud crashes heard in the background were the sound of the bodies of the jumpers hitting the ground.

I spent a summer working in New Jersey back in 1998. Keith flew in one weekend and we spent the day in NYC. We even went to the top of the WTC. I'm still having a hard time mentally making the connection that the building I was in is now gone. It was strange to see the footage of the lobby and the shops down on the subway levels and remember that I was there.

I was kinda hesitate about watching the show but found it to very informative. The only time it really bothered me was when you heard the bodies hitting.I also thought it was good to hear the firefighters curse and say things on their mind instead of getting bleaped out.It was sad that the ones trying to help knew less than the ones outside, sure hope the communication problem can get cleared up. The firefighters needed to know what was going on before us!

Hey Kim, the only footage I ever saw was what I saw in the physical therapy office live from ABC as it was happening. It was in an office waiting room full of people and everyone looked at me like I was nuts when I said...........Oh my God, we are under attack....we are at war, when I saw the second plane hit. My husband lets me out of the office as I was a blubbering fool. Nope, don't care to see one inch more of film than I saw that day.

Nope, I'm avoiding as much of all of this as I can. It's only been six months so I don't feel the need to relive it all again. This time of year has always been a slow news period so the media will play it up to keep their ratings up.

.......Alan.

I found it much more riveting than all the footage that has preceded it in the last six months. I am sure that film will be required viewing at the FDNY for many decades to come.

I think the program was very well done and deserving of being seen by thoughtful people. It brought an interesting perspective to a very historical time. I too, thought the bodies hitting were horrible, but nothing like what it must have been to those firefighters stuck in there.

You know, the thing that affected me the most was watching the command post set up in the lobby and having the chiefs and captains not understanding what was going on. Having elevators not working. Having radio transmission difficulties with so many folks trying to communicate at the same time. The expression of the folks on the streets as they tried to merely *comprehend* something to help them understand what happened.

I almost think this should be required viewing (even the foul language...it speaks so truthfully).

I taped it. Don't know when I'll ever watch it again, though.
