Does Anyone Watch the Farm Report on Saturday mornings?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I started watching the Farm Report on Saturday mornings because I thought it would be interesting. But I think it is just the party line that is put out by the Department of Agriculture and the big chemical companies. Am I wrong? Is this show worth watching or should I skip it next time?

it can be seen everyday,, at least around here,, usually at 4 or 430,, I like it for the new food trades and what the stocks are doing

Colleen, You have it right, Farm Report is bought and paid for by Agra- business corporations. They keep raming Chemicals and BE crops down our throats. I have stopped watching this propaganda.

I watch it almost every Saturday. The show is mainly about big agribusiness type farming, but they also occasionally have segments that would be of interest to small farmers and homesteaders. For example, this morning they had a segment about growing shitake mushrooms. It's like any other form of media, you have to look over everything to find what does interest you. Even Countryside usually has 1 or 2 articles that don't interest me at all.

I have not owned a T.V. set for 14 years now, but before that I used to watch the reports. Probably the same show is on now, reruns you know...

This program is sponsored by the Farm Bureau, and as such goes right down big agri-business party lines. Bigger is better, the agri- businessman is your friend, etc. The only thing I like about the show is the weather report--it's usually pretty accurate.

Murray, missed the show on growing mushrooms. Was it worthwhile for us homesteaders?
