Alan Positively looks like snogging the guy. ;-)

Are you sure Shearer isn't pushing Lolo over? :)

Maybe this will start another rumour...=)

LAFAO, great spot Ciara.

As I commented on the match thread, Ciara ;-)

Played back on the big screen - the TV focussed on the big screen!

Have a look at a replay if you were lucky enough to tape the match. Oscar performances all round if they were faking that.

-- Anonymous, March 10, 2002

I'm hoping to get a tape of the match, but it probably won't be for a few weeks or months. The friends taping it for me seem to have an unnatural fear of the post office they only overcome a couple of times a year. But it does sound like it's well worht the wait, and will give me something to watch during those horrid long weeks without footy between the end of the WC and the start of the new season. :-)

Putting this on here on the basis that it also might (hopefully) be just a rumour, there's a piece on the back of one of the sundays - mail I think, looked but didn't buy - that has Bobby admitting he's prepared to sacrifice Dyer so he can buy big in the summer.

Am I naive in thinking that if it's not just more rag scaremongering, it doesn't even make business sense, never mind football sense ?

Bill, I read something similar but this had us flogging Dyer to do some major work on the pitch!

Could be true as we have survived this long without him and his contract talks are dragging on a bit. Got to say, I thought Bobby loved Dyer so I can't see why he'd flog him to a competitor.

-- Anonymous, March 10, 2002

I thought it was the mail, but must have been the sunday sport. That's more ludicrous than selling to buy somebody else.

It qualifies for the 'DON'T-believe-it-even-when-you-do-see-it' file.

The only logical thing I can come up with is Dyer wanting to drag out the talks until we're sure, or otherwise, of Europe next season.

But let's not steal any rag glory by speculating along those lines. They'd never forgive us if we beat them to a scoop of poop like that.

-- Anonymous, March 10, 2002

Dyer should sign his contract as soon as possible.

Even if we do get into Europe, he can hardly argue that he was the sole reason we got there.

Yes he played a big part in a FEW matches, but it's only a quarter of the season.

We shouldn't sell him though, he compliments our style completely and to be honest there are few teams he would fit into in England. Possibly Liverpool out of the top 4 at the moment. The rest couldn't afford him.

Are we inventing a situation here? I've read nothing about Dyer dragging his feet on a new contract. The club tends to re-sign players 1 year before they become Bosman-free which points to a Summer conclusion. I expect the opening salvoes have been fired by Shepherd and Dyer's agent but that's probably as far as it's got.

One thing for sure - I can't see Leeds being able to afford him now. :-)

Not being one to rain on a parade but this looks very similar to the cuddle that Ruudy and Big Al had after the spuz semi final;-)

Professionals have to just get on with it regardless of whether or not they like eachother...just look at Graham Le Saux....noone likes him but they still congratulate him when he scores

I couldn't care less if they were daggers-drawn off the pitch - performance on it counts, nothing else.

Great pic, mind :-)

According to my sister who was watching/listening, a commentator said that "Alan Shearer can be very childish when he doesn't like someone".

-- Anonymous, March 11, 2002

Can't we all Dougal. Ask my missus.

-- Anonymous, March 11, 2002

It was the nerve of the commentator that got me...how the hell does he know?

-- Anonymous, March 11, 2002

Maybe he's been talking to Al's missus.

-- Anonymous, March 11, 2002

The commentator was correct but who gives a sh** if he scores the goals.... Its not as if were gonna be best mates with him is it??

-- Anonymous, March 11, 2002

Jonno, Dyer first mentioned being in discussions re his new contract before Christmas. You'd have to say that the fact that nowt's been signed by mid-March isn't a sign of a speedy conclusion of the deal.

Having said that, Shay, Andy O'B and Aaron are all sitting on offers from the club so I suppose it's just Dyer's profile that makes us focus on him.

Separately, the first thing I thought of when I saw this photo was Big Al and Ruud at OT but Al's smile looks sincere here where he looked like he was hugging horse muck in the Spurs pic.

Or else he's just eaten something really smelly and is delighted at the opportunity to breathe his foul breath in Robert's face. ;-)

Talking of rumours, can it be true that Pav is coming back on loan? I guess it makes a small amount of sense to get cover.
