new mop bucket

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

Hi I just happened upon this accidently a while back. use your washer for a mop bucket providing your floors are fairly clean fill the washer with detergent and bleach dip mop into washer ring out and mop. My washer is rather centrally located near all my hard floors so this works great, when I am done I just run the spin cycle and water goes away.

What a great idea. I don't have a wringer washer, but I have one of those big buckets with a wringer on it. It's really heavy to take outside to dump even if it has wheels that will take it to the door.

I'm not sure which forum I read this on--but I thought someone had a great idea to wash the mop head in the washer.

Here's one I use. First I pre wash the heavy gunk on the floor with windex (on a tile floor). While that is soaking in, I fill the bucket. I use vinegar with a few drops of lemon juice to cut the smell. If the gunk doesn't come off with the mop, I carry an old "credit" card (like last year's pool pass) in my back pocket to scrape off the gunk.
