Patty,

I have kind of a "whatever works barn". My husband got the idea to buy the chain link dog pens. We took two of them and put them together, end to end and then built a plywood on 2x4's roof for it. It works, not very big because space was limited. It has worked out great for us...It keeps out unwanted animals in the neighborhood and it has a door that we can lock. We will be moving this month and we are going to buy one of those metal carports, 18x21 for $595.00 and put that up...then as we grow, we can add another one to it. It will hold four rows of cages, 24" deep and still give us plenty of walk space. We will have two rows in the middle and then one row down each side. That price includes them bringing it out and installing it for you. Then we will put roll up heavy duty tarps on the sides to roll down to protect them from the weather...eventually we would like to build a nice barn that can be heated and cooled, but for now this will suffice. For the summer we will put lattice up around the carport to filter the sun and we will have wire all around with a door at one end to keep unwanted critters out. Hope this helps some. I have a scanner, but don't know how to upload the picture of my "barn" to this site. The main thing is good ventilation and protection from the weather and critters! It is very difficult sometimes to figure out how to achieve both without getting pricey.
